£75 double ensuite. Small room but beautiful, modern, recently refurbished. Delicious breakfast, much nicer than a greasy cooked one. Lis and Angus are really friendly and helpful. Don't eat at the Commercial Pub - the food was disgusting and I was sick afterwards. You must visit the Geever Tin Mine - it was fascinating.

Room Tip: Downstairs is slightly more spacious

My husband and I stayed for 4 nights at this lovely B&B.

We stayed on the ground floor room, which was very comfortable (though slightly on the smallish side for my 6'3" husband - but otherwise great). The room was light ,airy, clean and pleasant.

The bed was very comfortable, and we had a good night's sleep every night. There was also adequate storage space for our clothes and things.

What I looked forward to most were the breakfasts. The fruit was perfectly ripe and bursting with flavour. The cereals were delicious as were the breads, croissants, jams, cheeses, pickles, potato salad, juices etc. Everything was delicious and plentiful.

Liz and Angus were great hosts. They were helpful and friendly and lovely to chat with.

I was definitely impressed and hope to be able to stay there again in the future.

lovely place, lovely house, lovely people.
I fell in love with the place.
They care and it shows. The attention to detail is great.
When you get tired of carpet and bacon and eggs...go there!

What I remember best about The Old Fire Station is its architecture. The building used to be a real fire station and was beautifully converted into a family home and later a B&B without spoiling its character. The combined breakfast/dining/lounge room is very spacey with high ceiling, because here the fire engines used to park.

Our room was under the roof and felt a little crammed with twin beds in it, but it felt comfy nevertheless. The beds weren't special in appearance, but a dream to sleep in. The shower worked well (which isn't a given in British B&Bs).

The breakfast is not cooked, but was still very nice. If you're into strange cheeses and meats this will be a treat for you. I preferred the truly excellent croissants and jams.

We bumbled into St Just and were referred to The Old Fire Station. And it had a twin room with the most comfortable beds of our five B&B trip. Sleep was easy! And the pot of tea on arrival was welcome.

The roof lights are somewhat eccentric, but, once you realise that leaving them open in the rain is a major no-no (we didn't experiment!), they are fine. A nice touch was a table and chairs in the room, and being invited to take specialist teas from the dining room, and also to ask for wine glasses if we wanted to bring wine in (so much nice than drinking from tumblers, our hostess told us).

Drinking water is deionised tap water and tastes, well, of water, not of swimming pools. You are given a bottle to take to your room. I'm sure more is available, but we didn't run out.

Breakfast is in the area where the fire truck was parked of old. Now this breakfast is not a cooked breakfast. Our hosts reason that, when you have come this far into Cornwall, you have eaten all the bacon and eggs you could ever wish to eat! I think they are right. They serve a cold buffet, described as a smorgasbord, and it even had some Norwegian specialities!

The cold meats, cheeses, breads, croissants, fruits, and cereal available, pretty much in an unlimited supply were just perfect for me. If you need bacon and eggs then any old guesthouse will do. If you want a fun and tasty breakfast, come here.

Parking is on street outside and plentiful, decent pubs for dinner are within a short stroll, and the place, conveniently on a bus route, is quiet.
