“Basic”

The wellington was booked by the tour company organising our Lands end to John O'groats bike ride, I was expecting basic and the Wellington I would put in that category, arriving at 5 the pub area seemed a little tired and smelt of fried food, we were shown upstairs to our room and the steep stairs with old carpets did not bode good, but in fact the room was a pleasant surprise and had been recently refurbished, a complete contrast to the bar area. light and airy modern shower and fittings two comfortable beds. The group I was with decided we would eat in, and there did not seem a lot of competition in St Just. The meal was again better than I expected but still in the basic category but plenty of it, waitresses a little distant but the owner kept asking us if everything was OK it was just OK

While touring in West Penwith we stopped off for a night at the Wellington Hotel. Our room was lovely - recently re-done, with an outstanding en suite bathroom. The windows looked out over the Market Square, and there was even a glimpse of the sea! Altogether a very comfortable, and beautifully decorated bedroom. We ate downstairs in the bar; the food was a good pub meal, with very large portions. The local crab was particularly good. Service from both bar staff and waitresses was excellent: efficient and really friendly. We would definitely use the Wellington again.

We stayed here recently. We had a room in the main hotel on the top floor overlooking Market Square and with a distant view of the sea, The room was a fair size, clean and the bed very comfortable. The bathroom was large and spacious,
The stairs are steep.
Breakfast consisted of cereals, juice, fresh fruit and cooked full English which was of generous quantity,
We ate a couple of times in the bar/restaurant, The portions are good and hearty!
The staff throughout our stay were friendly and helpful.
Good value for money.

Room Tip: We couldn't fault room 11 !

We visited the Wellington Hotel after going to several other pubs and finding there was no space to eat there. We had been before so we weren't concerned about our visit. We went on a friday of the eatser holidays a around seven and had no trouble getting a seat. We ordered the drinks at the bar and then sat down to read the large menu and variety of specials including typical cornish dishes. Two of us had lovely battered cod and the other three of us had massive pasta dishes. They were lovely. We left the pub very happy and relaxed as well as completely stuffed. It had a lovely calm atmosphere. We would highly reccomend this lovely family pub.

I only visited The Wellington once during my stay in St Just. It seems to be the quietest of the four pubs in the town, but it may have just been the time of year (mid December). However, at least they were actually serving food on the night I was there (whereas the pub I had been planning to eat at - The King's Arms - had decided that they weren't serving food that night). I'd been on a fairly long walk, and needed some carbohydrates, so I went for ham, eggs & chips (£8.95). This being a St Austell Brewery managed pub (like many in this part of Cornwall), the chips were the coated kind (which I don't particularly like), but the ham was good, and the eggs nicely done. It was just what I needed really, and reasonably good value. The service was fine, but given that I was the only person eating I wouldn't have expected less.

We have strong family connections to st just and could not think of a better place to spend our first wedding anniversary. We booked a two night stay at the Wellington Hotel, having been so impressed with the food on previous visits.

When we arrived we were greeted by a lovely lady called Tracy who showed us to our room. Yes the room was a little dated, but it was clean and comfortable with everything we needed.

We enjoyed several - well probably more than several - drinks in the bar than afternoon and were welcomed to join Tracy and the locals in their chatter, and found them all to be very warm and friendly.

We were surprised that the pub had been taken over by new owners since our last visit in 2010 as it is still so authentic, and were delighted to meet Nick and Sandra the new and proud owners, they are both very warm and friendly and seemed to know what they have to do to keep both visiting trade and their locals happy.

The bar and catering staff remained the same, well, if it ain't broke don't fix it! Plus the wonderful home cooked menu was as good as ever, o.m.g. The chips are legendary!!!!! Sandra is keen to update the letting rooms and we agree that If a change needs to be made, that's where.

The breakfast is fantastic, wonderful locally produced food cooked to perfection. What better way to start your day.

All in all, if you want a 5 star hotel, don't book here, book a 5 star hotel!!!! If you want a 5 star welcome then DO book here!!!!!!

We cannot imagine what people expect for £50. This is an excellent value, warm, homely hotel with wonderful, friendly staff, fantastic food and we cannot wait to go back!!!!

Thanks again to everyone, especially Tracy.

Warm and comfortable, clean and friendly. This was very reasonably priced lovely granite old coaching inn. The room we had was in the converted stables at the back of the pub so it was quiet and a short alley meant you could avoid the temptation of walking through the pub to your room. Sometimes we did and sometimes we didnt!
