“Restaurant makes this place!”
Reviewed 26 May 2014

This is a really quirky place- more like a small hotel than a b&b- I think there are 11 rooms. Marco the host is good fun. Downstairs is furnished in a lovely shabby chic style inc the Trattoria restaurant we ate in on site serving simple but tasty Italian food- 3 course £19.50. The room we had was very clean although a little worn- it was quite chilly so maybe cold in the winter months. Breakfast is only served for one hour- don't be late- there may not be much left towards the end of the hour! Great location- be sure to visit Paul Jackson the potter and his garden by the bridge-it Ida delight!

We stayed here for 2 nights last weekend. We were made very welcome even though it was out of season and we were the only guests. We had the very large principle room at the front of the house which had gorgeous views it was exceptionally spacious and very clean. Marco the owner was a fantastic host and nothing was too much trouble and we actually spent the Saturday evening enjoying his company. (also a mention to Alison who served our breakfasts who was lovely too) a very relaxing enjoyable stay and a good base to see Cornwall : )

Far beyond expectations. Hidden away and difficult to find (especially on a cold, wet winter's night with a gale blowing) but a beautiful location and a fine house. Exceptionally friendly and welcoming owner, Marco, made our visit a real joy. Highly recommended

We had not booked our last nights accommodation and found Tredethy House on tripadvisor. We were very impressed. The grounds and the house were stunning despite a particularly bleak day; we had a lovely spacious room and a warm welcome. Unfortunately the restaurant was not open that night but we were given several recommendations that worked out really well. It was a continental breakfast and very generous and I would love to go back and try the restaurant.

This is a lovely house elegantly furnished and with a convenient location. It is in a good position for visiting the Cornish Coast and Bodmin. Our bedroom was excellent and very well appointed.Everywhere is clean and well cared for.The Italian meal was authentic and tasty. We loved the organic wine.Breakfast was well above average and the room a delight.
The Camel Valley Vineyard is nearby and well worth a visit.Pricey but wonderful sparkling wine.

From the moment we arrived at Tredethy House I was blown away by it and the views! We received a warm welcome from the owner Marco and shown to our lovely room. The room was very clean with beautiful bedding, lovely furniture and a large bathroom. So cosy to curl up in the bedroom chairs and admire the view out over the Camel Valley, I didn't want to close the curtains as the sun went down but savour every moment. We ate here on the Friday night, our meals were very tasty. It was my Birthday and we were made to feel very special by Marco. Breakfast was tasty too. Home made cereals, yoghurt, Italian ham, cheese, bread, fresh fruit and pastries set us up well for the day! The hotel is very well situated for sight seeing and exploring the local area. Marco and the ladies who work at the hotel are very warm and generous hosts and work hard to ensure an enjoyable and unforgettable experience. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who appreciates warm hospitality in beautiful, relaxing surroundings, whether it be as a couple or a family. Thank you so much for a wonderful weekend and we will be sure to visit you all again.

Room Tip: The rooms at the front of the hotel offer superb views

A big thank you to Marco and the team for making our weekend so perfect. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel welcome in such luxurious surroundings. It was my wife's Birthday and the genuine extra personal touches we received were not expected but extremely welcomed and appreciated. Marco was the perfect host we couldn't have wished for more or been any happier.
We had a very relaxing stay in a quiet, beautiful, and comfortable room at the front of the hotel with amazing country views. The three course Italian meal in the restaurant on Friday night was delicious.
This is an owner run country house hotel which is quiet, clean and comfortable. It is certainly somewhere to enjoy and relax, a great base for exploring this area of Cornwall. This was our first visit to Tredethy but it certainly won't be our last. We booked at short notice and were certainly not disappointed, it was just what we hoped it would be and the great service was the 'icing on the cake' We arrived as guests but left as friends...we cant wait to go back.

Room Tip: Rooms at the front of the hotel have magnificent country views

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Tredethy House is a beautiful, peaceful and informally elegant English Country House set in an area of outstanding beauty. Built in Tudor times and later extended, it has been the unique home of many British families and of Prince Chula of Thailand until the late sixties. A delightful and unique holiday spot today, Tredethy offers privacy and the blissful peace of the countryside whatever the season and is yet at easy reach of the North and South Coast as well as the many places of interest such as the Eden Project and the divine National Trust Houses and Gardens of Cornwall. The seven acres of grounds at Tredethy are themselves a piece of history with original planting like the most beautiful Hydrangeas and pink Rhododendrons. March hosts hundreds of narcissus, April is time for the breathtaking display of bluebells, followed by wild garlic and blue and pink wildflowers. Autumn is a fantastic season, full of colour and peace, and lots of anticipation for the festive season we all look forward to every year. ... more   less
