“Blissful stay at Amberfields”
Reviewed 11 May 2014

We had the most memorable experience at Amberfields recently when we were visiting the North Island (New Zealand). We had originally wanted to find a good hotel / B&B near the Waitomo Caves area but did not find anything attractive on the Web. Our search took us to other nearby areas and we came across Amberfields which seemed to offer a nice room, based on pictures we saw.
We are glad we selected this place as the overall experience from booking the trip, pre-arranging the menu (we had specially requested for dinner as my expecting wife preferred to dine in and enjoy the place) and the actual stay. We were made to feel at home by Linnie and Peter, and we had a wonderful time exchanging stories and life experiences during our short stay.
Amberfields was absolutely stunning, spacious and so well-maintained. It looks much better than what the pictures on the Internet shows. The room we stayed in (the Rose Garden Suite) was lovely and we were well-rested and recharged for the long drive the following day.
Many thanks again to Linnie and Peter for indulging us, and making our stay such a pleasant experience. We hope to bring our kids the next time round...I am sure they will love meeting Baxter and Spike!

Greetings and thank you for your very kind comments. I always think I am the lucky one when guests like you chose to stay here because it is a pleasure for us. We are pleased we helped make your New Zealand experience all the more special. Hope to see you again one of these days! I suppose your hectic work schedule has dulled your vacation memories, but look at those photos out there with the cows, and they will mooove to the top of your memory bank! Hope you are well, Linnie

The hosts were warm and inviting and the house was lovely with nice scenery overlooking the cows and garden. Dinner was fantastic with great conversations and friendship forged. The organic breakfast was simply divine with great taste accompanied by the good views! What more can we ask for!

My husband and I and another couple were guests at Linnie and Peter's Bed and Breakfast on March 17, 2014 prior to our cruise. We cannot thank Linnie and Peter enough for their gracious welcome - beer, wine, coffee, etc. Linnie served us a delicious coffee cake. Our rooms were immaculately clean, large and so many amenities in the shower that you really felt like you were at a Spa. After dinner we returned and stayed up later than we should have talking to Peter and Linnie. In the morning Linnie served us a five star breakfast including fresh squeezed juices homemade breads, coffee and eggs. I would not hesitate to recommend their Bed and Breakfast not only for the wonderful rooms but also for their friendship.

It was our pleasure, and a lot of fun for us to have 4 fun Americans to stay! We hope you all enjoyed the fabulous cruise around NZ and Australia, and are now back home to a warmer Connecticut. The rain finally arrived with a vengeance, in the form of a 12 hour storm on Good Friday. Please come back one day, we so enjoyed meeting you... Linnie

Trout fishing and your stories were great! What could be better than spending the day in waders, with the choice of all these amazing nearby rivers and streams, catching trout. Please post a photo of your catch to prove the joy of the rod. Lovely to have you stay with us, thank you for your feedback and see you again soon - with the smoker! Linnie

I had the pleasure of staying at Amberfields Bed and Breakfast at the beginning of 2014 and was hosted by Peter and Linnie Jones who are the most wonderful hosts. There home is beautiful to say the least and the surroundings are so peaceful and relaxing. Linnie and Peter served up a beautiful breakfast in the mornings, lovely fresh fruit juices, cereals and fruit and to finished delicious scrambled eggs. After breakfast we all went for a walk down to the back of the farm to the site of an old Maori Pa. On the last day Peter decide to give his 1956 Chevy (Peter's pride and joy) a run and so we all piled in for a trip to Raglan about an hours drive away. We decide while in Raglan to do a Kayak adventure around the harbour - absolutely fantastic. I have no hesitation and recommending Amberfields - Peter and Linnie's place to stay if you want a break in the countryside.

We enjoyed your company and thank you for your kind comments. It was our pleasure to recommend the Raglan Kayaking trip and even though you fell out trying to retrieve that hat, it simply added to the entertainment! This area has such a diverse range of activities and we love to surprise our guests on things to do once they dare to tell us about their bucket list. Enjoy the rest of the summer - Linnie

If you want to stay out in the country to recuperate from a hectic lifestyle, Amberfield’s is the place to stay.
Our family spent 4 wonderful days at Amberfield’s with Peter and Linnie. They have created a wonderful home and welcome you in as friends and not guests. This was our 1st time in a bed and breakfast and it couldn’t have been better.

We stayed in the Rose Garden Suite which is spacious with a gorgeous view and delightful bathroom with a to die for shower. Our 11-year-old son stayed in the single room and he was quite happy there too. He loved feeding the chickens and gathering the eggs. But his favorite was Baxter the Bull.

Linnie is a great cook and breakfast was always more than we could eat. Plus there are so many extra little things they do that made our stay memorable. Calling to help with bookings for Waitomo caves, helping pack a snack for our hike up Mt. Pirongia. Plus Peter is a wealth of local knowledge and always has a great suggestion of what to do and where to go around town.

Thank you Linnie and Peter for being such great hosts and wonderful people, I know anyone who stays with you will have an enriching time.

Ken, Khim and Kyler

Room Tip: The Rose Garden Suite is the room you want as it has such a nice bathroom, wonderful bed and view.

Thank you so much for your very kind review, we really enjoyed your company, getting to know you all and having you stay with us at our B&B. Five days went by very quickly and Baxter looks out for you daily! He mooooves to a new field tomorrow and will be with all the girls again, plus Knobbly that little calf. We are pleased your memories of NZ were enriched and hope to see you again one day, for another ride in the Chevy! Our very best wishes for the new year, Linnie and Pete

Linnie and Peter were perfect hosts for myself and my bridesmaids on the night before my wedding. They catered for our every whim, even allowing a beauty therapist to come in and do last minute preparations for the big day! Linnie is a great cook, who quietly busied herself in the kitchen ensuring we were very well fed (salmon dish = fabulous!) while we sipped away at the amazing champagne she arranged for us (she is also very good at topping up your glasses!). Any last minutes nerves I had were immediately washed away as soon as I stepped into their amazing home. We all felt right at ease and comfortable, and I had a fantastic last night as a single woman. The rooms are incredible and the bathrooms have everything you could ever need available (even by bridezilla standards - Linnie remembered everything I forgot to pack). I would highly recommend staying here to anyone who is needing a little bit of relaxation and pampering - nothing is too big an ask for Linnie. Thank you so much for my magical pre-wedding night, it was perfect!

Thank you so much for your kind words. At this time of True Love, such a special experience for you all, it was a lot of fun for me too, making sure all your needs were well and truly met not just for the excited Bride-to-be but also your three lovely bridesmaids. The day before a wedding is almost like a bullet train, travelling fast and on a one way flat-out pace, and to take away all your smallest concerns and make sure you were all as relaxed as possible, was my only focus. And what a stunning bride! I am so pleased you came to stay with us and I was part of your amazing day. My very best wishes to you both and come back for your first anniversary and I will run that pink bubble bath for you! Blessings for a fabulous 2014 - Linnie
