Madura Roadhouse

We only stayed 1 night. The caravan park had great ammenities for the price.
The iced cold beer in the bar was fantastic.
There is a restaurant attached and the steak we had was perfect. Would highly recommend an overnight stay. Enjoy

This roadhouse has both motel and caravan park facilities.
It is on the Eyre Hwy at Madura, 92 km east of Cocklebiddy.
Bring your own firewood if you are camping.

Madura, comprising a roadhouse, motel and caravan park on the Eyre Highway, lies midway between Adelaide and Perth on the Nullarbor Plain. It is remarkable, given the isolation of the area, that Madura Station was settled in 1876 to breed horses, which were then shipped across to India for use by the British Army. Now Madura is surrounded by private sheep stations. Locals operate on Central Western Time, 45 minutes ahead of the rest of Western Australia.
A road opposite the Madura Roadhouse leads to a number of small blowholes; you can ask at the roadhouse for the directions to these.

The Madura pass look out is only about a kilometre from the road which has
great views over the Nullarbor plains.
Rooms are clean and one of the better places to sty while heading across the Nullarbor in either direction.

We stopped here on our way over to Perth and rather than set up the camper, as we had another long day's travel, decided to 'motel' it so we could get away early. The staff were very pleasant when we phoned ahead and accommodating when we booked in. The room was very basic, but clean and tidy, and as others have stated, could do with a bit of a make-over. Although it had all we needed for the night - a bed, shower and aircon. And although there was only a couple of stations, we got to see some television. Not a bad place to stop if you need to.

I've read the other reviews of the "Madura Oasis Resort & Roadhouse" and thought I should add my 2 bobs worth.
After leaving Port Augusta in the morning and travelling for over 1100 km's in 12 1/2 hours Madura was indeed an oasis!
We booked a room and proceeded to the bar verandah for a cool drink.
Madura has a population of 8 & they all live and work at the roudhouse/resort.
The staff are friendy & the reataurant meals are exceptional.
Although the motel beds are comfortable and the bathrooms clean the rooms are badly in need of a makeover to replace worn carpets and tatty curtains.
But.....after a few hours sitting on the verandah enjoying a cool drink & chatting with both the locals and other travellers, the condition of the rooms fades into obscurity.
all in all,if you need a place to rest,or have a feed,I suggest you mark this one down as a must stop along the way.

We stayed one night had dinner in the restaurant girls loved the eggs and baked beans( kids menu) it was wonderful they had something different from just chips and nuggets. The staff were great. Room was small but considering where you are it was wonderful.

The grottiest, most overpriced motel I have ever stayed in. Although the sheets and pillow cases were clean, the pillows were stinky, I had a look under pillow case and they were putered. Cold shower, which leaked all over the floor.
When we asked if we could use the BBQ or camp kitchen in the caravan park behind the motel which they run, they said 'there is none, you have to eat in the restuarant'. We used our gas cooker on the tailgate of our ute outside our room.
Next night we stayed in our tent at a free roadside camp - much better option!

I stayed at Madura Roadhouse for one night August 2013. The staff were very friendly and the food very good. They have almost anything on the menu. Fresh vegetables, fish, etc. delivered every Friday.
The room clean but worn out.
