“Great way to spend a day.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 August 2012

Oak Hammock Marsh is 30 km north of the city of Winnipeg. There is no public transport. There are canoe rides thru the marsh but phone ahead for the times. There are also varied program on all year long. We had a great time walking along various well marked paths. There was also a small museum and cafe.

“Fabulous”

Saw the migration of the geese - weather not good but we were able to watch from inside and get a good view - kids loved the excursion. Staff very pleasant and accomodating.

“A Nice Place for a Walk and Some Bird Watching”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 August 2012

Pros: Nice indoor exhibits - most are directed at kids, but not too boring for older people to enjoy as well. The trails are very nice and well-marked, and there is plenty of wildlife to see.

Cons: The floating boardwalk, due to low water levels, appeared to be broken. One long segment of the trail we did take was overgrown. Some of the areas of the marsh appeared to have been drained.

“A must to see”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 August 2012

Oak Hammock is a must to see. It is about 20 to 25 minutes north of winnipeg. In early spring and late fall, the canada geese come in by the thousands. There are numerous groomed trails that go out into the marsh. some only take minutes to walk, some longer. If you drive to the north end of the marsh, you will pass an artesian spring, safe and very good to drink from.

“Awesome for bird watching or star gazing”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 July 2012

The interpretive centre has a lot to offer in a beautiful building designed to blend into the landscape. The grounds have endless trails around the marsh with picnic areas throughout. An amazing place close to Winnipeg to enjoy nature. Along with watching the migration of the geese the Royal Astronomical Society often has star gazing nights at the marsh. A must experience for outdoor enthusiasts.
