Beautiful 19th century building filled with catalan tiles. Everywhere. Some rooms have different patterns on the same wall, floor. The museum has some interesting historical information about Tabasco since the Conquest. Due to its lack of precious minerals, the Spanish put their attention elsewhere -- hence today Tabasco still has a large indigenous population.

Set in an older mansion downtown, the museum has a wonderful collection of bits of life in 1800's Mexico. oped to a central skylight court, the house interior is covered in decorative tiles.

I had the opportunity to visit this beautiful Museum in downtown Villahermosa. Our tour guy (I don't recall his name) was a very nice, educated, and lively man. The Museum is conveniently located in one of the principal corners of the downtown just two blocks away form the Government offices and the principal plaza.
The museum is full of art from different eras of the region. From the conquest all the way to the Mexican revolution.

The Casa de los Azulejos, is a historic building, that has a very elegant collection of tiles that cover both floors and walls, each room has a different pattern, and motif.
Worth a stop by to look into the architecture. The few museum items are scarce, but the building itself deserves looking at.

A pretty blue building in an ugly town hosted a collection of old sewing machines, cash registers, typewriters, a few uninteresting paintings and that was about it. Very pretty tile floors and walls though. If you´re stuck in Villahermosa, might as well go. It{s centrally located.
