“Good Hotel”

I spent 3 nights in this Hotel with my family as I used Villahermosa as a stop over to- and-from the Yucatan Peninsula (driving from Mexico City). The Hotel is in the middle of the countryside and if you don't have a car you are kind of stuck there. Its a fast drive though to the city (15 minutes) althought Villahermosa traffic can be a turnoff (and this coming from someone who lives in Mexico City)

The hotel is nice and modern, clean rooms (nice and large bathroom) although on the smallish side (they could not fit in a rollaway bed so our kids took turn sleeping in the floor (no biggie, they are kids!). Pool area is good (especially for the kids) and the surrounding countryside is pretty nice to look at. Spa/GYm area pretty nice with modern and well kept equipment. Nice Steam Room.

Great attitude and service from all the staff members!

They were 3 thing that kind of turned me off for not giving them a 5 star rating:

-Restaurant and bar prices. These guys know they are the only game in town, so they charge accordingly as if they were in New York. The only time we had dinner there (we had just arrived from Merida so did not felt on going out), we had 3 bowls of cereal, 5 small croissants, 1 glass of milk, 1 diet coke and 1 greek Salad and paid 550 pesos (42 bucks!!!) + tip

-Pool area is nice, but it seems that they sell memeberships so locals can go there as well . No problem with this but they don't staff it accordingly. Pool was always crowded and they have a very, very (very!!) bad pool service (drinks and foods). I only saw 2 waiters tending 50-60 people in the pool (and prices are quite expensive!!: 2 beers and 1 double tequila set me back close to 350 pesos + tip)

-Wifi although complimentary is very spotty. Cell Phone signal as well is on the weakish side in some areas of the hotel.

I am sure if owners/managment addressed these issues they could have a wonderful hotel

Room Tip: try to get rooms looking the pool and surrounding countryside. Great views!

To reach the Hilton from the airport (very close) we were significantly disadvantaged by the fixed fare taxi system, on the way back Hilton provided a free shuttle. The room was good, nice bedding, nice toiletries. Staff were not very helpful or professional and did not appear to understand us regardless of whether we spoke Spanish or English. The restaurant table was filthy and sticky. Noise from the corridor was very clearly heard in the room. The layout was confusing. If you are just coming or going from the airport it's ok, you would not stay here otherwise

What can I say about this place? Well it is basic, perhaps a tad over-priced (though most guests staying here are probably oil & gas folks having their tab picked up), but at the end of the day, a great hotel.
The rooms are nice, clean and comfortable, however fairly basic, but again, this is a business hotel. We ate the breakfast buffet 4 times, but the price was very steep, $25 a person? Really? That is unacceptable, even if this is a business hotel. The breakfast was delicious but I would not pay more than $10 for it. We also ate dinner here, a few times in-room and a few times at the restaurant. Average and over-priced.
I would recommend this hotel, because it is isolated from the main city-centre, which is a good thing, since Villahermosa could get dangerous at night.
One thing that bothered me were the front desk staff. Each and every person I dealt with had a grumpy attitude and never smiled. They seemed border-line aggressive, totally not cool. The little store they had on the property, had a great staff, friendly and welcoming and so were the valet parking guys.. but the front desk, can it really hurt to smile?
Another minor gripe is the condition of the pool area. It desperately needs more attention. The tiles in the pool are falling apart, it seems aged and the maintenance crew is lazy? The walls need a coat of paint and the surrounding seating and loungers are in shabby condition.
All in all I would recommend this hotel, but there are a few minor things that need to be attended to, because if not, in the next 5 years, this place could go down hill quickly.

Room Tip: stay near restaurant because some rooms are far from the main areas.

Well, the sign says so.....lets start with the positives. First, it is very close to the airport. Second, this is a full service hotel and the restaurants (two) are surprisingly good...not great, but the food is better than average for hotel food. Third, there are lots of conference and meeting rooms. On the other hand, the rooms are somewhat Spartan (very basic), lesser quality than many Hilton Garden Inn rooms. If you are used to "big city" Hilton hotels, you might be in for a surprise. So lower your expectations. Signage directing visitors to the hotel is not optimal. The hotel is literally in the middle of nothing, so there is nothing to see and do around the hotel. The small village nearby is essentially devoid of any options and the hotel is some distance outside of Villahermosa. Access is easy coming from Ciudad del Carmen, not quite so easy coming from Villahermosa, and easy if coming from the airport if you turn when you see the large black on white "hotel" sign. Internet service is....ahhh....slow. There is plenty of free parking and there is a guard. Vertical transportation within the hotel is not optimal. Price is good.

We stayed here while driving from Puerto Aventuras, Q.Roo to Canada. Since it was only a brief overnight stay we were not able to enjoy all of the amenities of this hotel but we were very pleased overall.

- Excellent location right on the highway and very each to access especially since we were travelling through.

- The room was well furnished and clean and the bathroom was luxurious.

- We had supper at the restaurant overlooking the valley beyond the highway. View is beautiful and relaxing. The meal was excellent although the hamburger I ordered was under cooked and had to be sent back. The credit card terminal at the restaurant couldn't process our credit card after several tries so we paid cash.

- There was a bit of confusion about the bill the next morning because the reservation was charged to our credit card as a hold immediately and additionally the final room charge was also charged to our Visa credit card the next morning so both appeared for a while on our Visa credit card as charges. We were concerned that the second charge was actually a double billing of our failed credit card payment attempt from the restaurant the previous evening. Staff couldn't explain this clearly in English and since we are still learning Spanish, we couldn't communicated enough to understand why both charges appeared on the card at the same time. By evening when we had arrived at the next hotel on our trip - the Hilton Garden Inn located in Queretaro, the Front Office Manager Jose Candia in Villahermosa was able to clear up the misunderstanding. He did try to call and explain while we were travelling, but the call kept on dropping so he clarified all by email. The deposit hold was removed on the 3rd day.

- Thanks to all the staff for their patience with us and we apologize that our Spanish was not strong enough to understand the explanations given while we were checking out.

A typical Hilton that assures you their standards even while the local standards may be somewhat lower than average. Out of the city and the night time hustle and bustle. Closest hotel to the Airport in Villahermosa. Nice dinning facilities, super friendly staff !!

This hotel is great if you need to be close to the airport - 5 minutes by shuttle. Its a bit of a drive into the city centre - 20 min + in traffic - but the hotel provides a free shuttle to 4 or 5 spots in the city and return on a regular schedule. Food service was very good, lovely pool area and fitness centre. The only issue I had was the sounds of the hallway carry into the room quite significantly - tile floors in the halls so every footstep echos into the rooms. Not a problem unless you are a light sleeper and go to bed early. I stay here regularly and enjoy every visit.
