“Brilliant location if a little quiet!!”
Reviewed 10 November 2013

A hotel which is located in the jungle of Palenque and is made up of a series of bungalows, nicknamed Jungalows due to their location.

The Jungalows were more than adequate and were very comfortable despite being in a jungle. They contain electric, A/C, TV, comfortable beds and private bath/showers.

The surroundings are spectacular as are the communal areas of the hotel. The Palenque ruins are 5 minutes drive away and the main town 10 minutes drive.

There are occasional bugs but that is to be expected in the jungle. There were also lots of lizards and Iguanas to be seen. Despite hearing monkeys I didn't see any.

Breakfast was included with the room and was of a high standard as was the evening meals sampled.

The only negative is that the hotel was very quiet and it seemed at times that there were no other guests. This meant that the evenings were quite boring and had I been staying for more than two nights I may have been tempted to head in to Palenque itself which didn't look that appealing as I drove through.

After being inland and staying at some smaller towns with minimal accommodations this was a real treat. Spacious rooms and real beds along with a restaurant with a extensive menu, good food and service.
The pool is fantastic, made even better by the howler monkeys in the back ground and the numerous birds.
Being right outside the gate to the ruins was also a great benefit.

Room Tip: Huge plac so take a little longer walk and get a room on the outside. Security is great so don'...

the jungle setting was very nice, the room was good, the food and drink was way way way overpriced and the tour operator next to the reception desk is a massive rip off, i booked an english speaking tour guide for 80 .u.s and he said the transportation and entry fees were included. the next day the tour guide showed up on foot and said the guy i booked the tour with will drive us to palenque for an extra fee of 20 u.s, then i had to also pay for both entry fees and after only seeing half of the palenque site the guide said i can do the rest of the tour for an additional price....ripped off at palenque and chan kah

The jungle setting and appropriate landscaping make this cabin style resort special. A river runs through the property and during our stay it ranged from a quiet babble to a full on torrent. Agoutis, which look like a big guinea pigs, nearby howler monkeys and other wildlife are plentiful and fun to watch. A trip highlight was enjoying a late afternoon wine and cheese with friends on one of our bungalow verandas. It was hard to choose which one.

The property is reasonably large and requires a moderate amount of walking to get around. Paved paths with several bridges, crisscross the property and carry one through the jungle, past a selection of swimming pools styled to look like cenotes to the common areas and resort amenities. Each stroll was a pleasure.

Cabins are pleasant, clean and spacious both inside and outside on a covered veranda. Our party had mechanical issues upon check-in in two of four cabins (AC & hot water). These were corrected efficiently. The key activated cabin electric power box needs to be tricked to assure the AC keeps the cabin cool and dry during absences.

The restaurant and bar are open air, large and well appointed. The facility can clearly handle large groups. The menu is traditional and complete. Prices are upper mid-range and fair. Food quality and presentation is average to very good. I particularly enjoyed the ceviche, breakfast omelets which are excellent and a premium brand margarita. The bar frozen margarita was disappointing. Wait staff is great. They are helpful, fun, capable and sufficiently fluent in English to assist those challenged by Spanish.

Room Tip: Ask to see a property map when you book or check in. The cabins towards the eastern and southern bou...

Despite not being some luxurious spa-fency-chic resort in the middle of nowhere, it is a place with many, many advantages when comparing to some other hotels in Palenque... Before everything - its setting in the jungle, all those animal noices during night, incredible nature and animals walking around and than - charming pool and bungalows (or rooms, if you like to call it that way), good restaurant... all that combined together is a reason why I would be happy to stay here again!

Bungalows are really clean, well maintained. There is so-called electricity box in the room, where you have to stick your key inside if you want to have electricity, but as it is an very old model of device, you can just pick a brunch outside, stick it inside of the device and when you leave the bungalow for a dinner or swimming, your A/C or chargers will remain in use.

Prices in the bar snd restaurant are a bit to high, but they are making great cocktails! You can try to walk to the city center, but in my opinion it's too far - it takes some 40 minutes, better to take taxi (receptionist will call them).

While in many ways this is a typical Mexican family-style hotel with a shallow pool alongside the adult pools and menus for kids as well as standard Mexican fare for their parents, this hotel is much more beautiful than most. The cabins of this hotel are tucked inside a little jungle of enormous tropical trees and a profusion of blossoms, with a stream running through the property. The three swimming pools of different depths, made to look like natural cenotes with rocks set into their curving sides, are a treat for the eyes as well as the body. From the simple but comfortable cabins (two kingsized beds, a veranda, a large bedroom and closet with plenty of space) you can hear the howler monkeys in the nearby jungle. For a healthy adult, the archeological site of Palenque is an easy hour's walk away, while for the less athletically inclined, there is parking for your car or you can use the public busses that go by every 10 minutes or so. For older travellers, the walk from the parking lot to the cabins or the restaurant might be a bit long, but the winding paths through the gardens is a nice way for younger families to spend an evening hour. The hotel also has its own sewage treatment plant, thus keeping the little stream that passes through the place clean, with fish swimming in it and the native guaqueques scampering down to drink at its banks.

Room Tip: The older cabins above the restaurant are shadier and cooler, but they also have some suites down by...

It is considered to be an eco- hotel. Our house had a hall, a bedroom and a bathroom. The hall had lots of space for the laggage, an open closet , lavatories but not a refrigerator or a safe box (they have in the reception). The bedroom was clean spacious , with many windows and a veranda completely furnished looking to a jungle. However we couldn't enjoy it because of the mosquitos.Early in the morning we could hear the howler monkies nearby. From what I saw I think is the best in the area. It is located near the Palenque archeological site (around ten minutes distance).Sorry I do not rate value but the price was included in the package I had.
