“Excellent place-want to go back!!”
Reviewed 6 August 2014

We have just got back from our 10 day holiday in Devon, where we stayed at The Cridford Inn. The whole stay was amazing. From the moment we arrived, to the moment we left, we received nothing but top class service from a very friendly team of Tracy,Ian, Mel,Sam and rest of the team. The room was tastefully decorated and the bed very comfortable!
We ate here every morning and pretty much every evening and never had a bad meal. The food is cooked extremely well with some lovely choices such as scallops, pork belly and duck for starters and steak, fresh fish specials, chicken for mains among others. The dishes were always beautifully presented and the food itself was mouthwatering! The breakfasts are also top notch too!
Nothing seemed like to much bother to the team and we felt very welcome here and it felt like we were with friends as everyone so lovely. Nice to get recommendations on where to go in the area with our little girl.
Special thanks must go to Mel, who made our little girl feel very special and really was friendly to her, so much that my daughter still tells me how much she misses Mel!! We would definitely go back here and definitely recommend to anyone!

This was our third visit for a meal. We came in Sept when we were getting married at nearby Haldon Belvedere and realised we had stumbled on a little gem.

The service, pub and food this evening were excellent. We were so pleased to find the belly pork still on the menu.

The local ingredients are delicious, the presentation is fantastic and most importantly the price is realistic.

Thank you for a lovely evening.

We travelled with a mature Guide Dog puppy that has always been a challenge during his twelve month training period with us.
We were met by courteous staff members and that courtesy was extended throughout our three day stay.
Consideration for us and the Guide Dog puppy was shown at all times by members of staff.
The hotel restaurant was excellent, menu quite extensive and staff worked very efficiently.
Food quality was excellent, portions were perhaps a little too large especially the desserts, be warned if you are on a diet.
The floors are a little creaky but then that is part of the charm of staying in this type of property.
At the time of our stay the weather was hot and humid resulting in an uncomfortable air flow situation in our room, unfortunately no fan was available and we believe this should be a consideration by staff.
Lanes are narrow in places which is common with many areas in Devon and Cornwall.
We would strongly recommend this hotel to friends without hesitation.

A group of 7 adults and one child have just returned from a wonderful weekend at the Cridford Inn. We were all staying as we had a wedding to attend nearby and wow!!

Ignore any negative reviews on this place! We arrived Friday evening and had a beautiful meal in the bar, Mel really looked after us all evening. The quality of the food was brilliant and we had a lovely time.

Our room was very clean and all bedding and towels were in excellent condition. The bathroom was also spotless.

Saturday morning we had a fantastic breakfast, our group had made a couple of requests (one with rock hard eggs and one with no tomato) not only were these done for us with no fuss; Mel even remembered for Sunday who wanted what and made a special provision for the little one in our group who wanted a boiled egg rather than fried.

The setting for this inn is gorgeous, no mobile phone signal but the pub provides complimentary WiFi.

All weekend our every need was catered to by Mel; nothing was too much trouble. Mel looked after us wonderfully from making sure we had enough juice and toast at breakfast to booking cabs for us. When we left for the wedding on Saturday we all left our rooms in a rush; when we got back clothes had been tidied, beds made and towels changed... A very special thank you to Mel for that as it meant we could get directly into bed after a long day out.

I would recommend the Cridford Inn to anyone and I deffinately hope to return for another weekend away soon.

We have just returned from a weekend stay at the Cridford Inn. From the first welcoming hello from Mel, we felt right at home. The rooms, there are only four, were clean, spacious and equipped with everything you needed, tea/coffee facilities , hair dryer , TV and very comfy beds. The Cridford Inn is of course a pub, with the Vanilla Pod restaurant part of it. The food quality and choice of menu were superb and great value for money. The surf & turf was certainly a favourite with most of the group I was with, and the local ice cream a dream to taste. Mel was always nearby to answer any questions and no request was a problem for her to solve. In short the next time I'm down Newton Abbot way, I will certainly be booking back into the Cridford Inn.

Room Tip: It wouldn't matter what room you are given, you won't be disappointed

My daughter booked her wedding reception here some months ago, and we both had concerns about somewhat slap happy communications and people skills.
HOWEVER

On the day it was the most fabulous venue with amazing food, and the staff were attentive and friendly. The Cridford delivered - and we were Happy.

People stopping overnight reported excellent rooms which were lovingly decorated and presented with attention to detail - excellent hospitality 'tray' with variety of teas, coffee and drinking chocolate!

What more could we ask......... but, it seems the owner has other business interests, and wherever the customer communication details have been allocated, you just need to hone the skills up a bit and inspire the client as to what a WONDERFUL deal you will deliver.

WELL DONE, ONE AND ALL, A PAT ON THE BACK TO YOU.

Again, the presentation of the account for payment in advance is fine, and the ideal of a 10% optional gratuity is fine - but the gratuity is better not included in the Bill, let the client decide and you might find that with food, service and ambience as good as yours, you will make more than 10% ! the thought of paying a gratuity in advance is not quite hitting the nail on the head.

small details - BUT WILL MAKE A HUGE DIFFERENCE

The roses outside a fabulous, and make a beautiful backdrop. Less beautiful are the large plastic bags ( builders bags?) and the untidy array of bikes around the Lodge area.

KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK - it's almost perfect - and could so easily be spot on !!!

Room Tip: All rooms brilliant - family members were in 3 of the 4 rooms - watch the lovely beams you tall peop...

Thank you for your feedback .This was the first wedding that I had given most of the control to my manager. All in all you are saying she did a great job, and yes there were several people involved with conversations ,because of days off extra. But we do communicate well ,and that is why your day was successful. I take on board your comments, and will have much more involvement in the weddings.
Kind regards
Tracey
