This is not your typical holiday get away. These are houses that have been stratigically placed through the Bunya Mt rainforest and you have everything you would expect to find in a house; with a few additions. I stayed in Pitta Place and the rainforest was literally 4 metres from the back verandah. There are Red-necked Wallabies everywhere and whilst they aren't tame, they have no fear of humans.
If you are after walks iin the rainforest, there are long (full day) and short (500m) ones. There are 2 coffee shops if you don't want to make your own in your house. A word of warning though, the service in both is unbelievably slow, so allow extra time. The is a general store also and the prices are fairly inflated as they are the only store for 50km's in any direction. The staff at the office are very friendly and knowledgable.
This is a bird watchers paradise. There are many species of birds on the ground, in the undergrowth and in the canopy. They were all constantly calling while I was there in February. This is a great place to walk quietly through the forest, observe the wildlife, drink your coffee slowly and recharge your batteries.
