“Lunch out with friends - Great”
Reviewed 28 March 2014

Went there for lunch yesterday on a friends recommendation, just great. Very attractive Inn, excellent luncheon menu and very , very helpful staff. We thoroughly enjoyed everything about it. One small point, if you advertise Thursday fish and chips day with 'buy one and get one for £2' you should state on the board that it is evenings only!!

Just stayed here again before a cruise - superb food - we had dinner bed and breakfast - wonderful staff and a great room - a really unique place to stay. Only one very small point - still cannot see the TV properly from my bed!

Room Tip: just go - you'll soon realise why!!

A little gem. Amazing room. Delicious food (although the menu might not be to everyone's liking). You will find it hard to match this if you stayed in a 4 star hotel. Stayed on my own but definitely bringing my wife to stay.

Booked as a surprise for my girlfriend for her birthday. Check-in was quick, location was good, short car journey or only £20 taxi to city centre. Beautiful hotel room with gorgeous bathroom and an incredibly comfy bed! Next to a very cosy bar that served a delicious breakfast! Also, very welcoming staff. Only downside was we only stayed one night! Definitely recommend!

Had a really lovely meal at the restaurant and was not at all disappointed. Service was excellent and I would recommend this place for a night out. Recommend the goat cheese tart with pear & walnut salad.

Finding true country style, traditional British inns these days is rare but we were lucky enough to stay, eat and drink at this delightful, charming and comfortable inn for one night on a special winter deal. We were greeted by a very nice young man who took us to our room (the seperate building a few steps from the pub} Unfortunately the basic priced double room was not large, dark with a small window and, subdued lighting didnt help to make it any brighter, nice bathroom though. After pointing out to the staff that this did not suit us, we were taken to the four poster room which was large and bright, and just like the photos of rooms on the website. It has the largest shower we have ever seen with two shower head at both ends, fantastic. The most comfortable bed for a good nights sleep too.Large fluffy towels and fresh bed linen. The food in the evening was very good. The best grilled cod dish ever and, the kedgeree starter yummy . The situation of the pub is not quite as rural as one might think from the website photos as there is a very busy road alongside but the double glazing cuts out the noise. Overall lovely staff, good food, and a comfortable night. I would recommend paying for the upgrade of room if you want one as illustrated on the website.

My partner, daughter (18 months) and I are regular visitors to the Pilgrim Inn. We use it for breakfasts, lunches and dinners on our own and especially with friends. We feel lucky to have the Pilgrim Inn close to where we live but thankfully not too close or we wouldn't leave. The restaurant/pub offers superb and quite sophisticated menus with an excellent choice of locally sourced food. The wine list is very good if not overly extensive.

The service is second to none and even rivals much more up market venues like The Pig and Limewood where we are also regulars.

Anita and Helen as well as their team provide a friendly and warm welcome and nothing is too much trouble.

I would recommend the restaurant / pub to anyone but please be patient if you visit at very busy times.
