“Very good, just what we wanted”
Reviewed 28 August 2014

Stayed prior to a cruise, and the hotel did everything we wanted. It is busy with families with young children but we had a room at the bottom end so it was very quiet. Only downside was rooms didn't have air conditioning but overall very good. Adjacent pub was noisy but good value. Perfect for cruisers departing from Southampton as it's only a 20 minute drive.

Room Tip: Rooms 239 - 245 are at the quiet end as well as the ones below, not sure on numbers

Great budget hotel, friendly, helpful staff, perfect location for our trip to paultons park, would definitely recommend to families, everybody went out of there way to make sure we had a great stay. Our room was newly decorated so seemed as new, clean, fresh and modern

We stayed here with our 5 year old, easy to find close to junction and Peppa Pig World just take a right from the Hotel and great parking area, I had received an email notifying me of the re-furb and option to cancel but I'm glad we didn't as we didn't even notice anything was going on, didn't hear any noise or see an builders (stayed 17th August).
We were greeted very well and made to feel very welcome our room was on the first floor and had recently been upgraded on saying that there was no air conditioning in the room, so glad we were only there for one night.
My reason for rating this Premier Inn 'Average' was that my daughters bed was a mattress on the floor tucked into a corner which we weren't happy about so she slept in our bed her bed was also under the window and even though there was a mesh guard outside our window there were many little dead black flies on the sill and dead insects on the net curtain so having recently been re-furb was a little disappointing and if I was staying longer would of asked for bed and flies to be cleaned away! Also after only being in our room for about an hour a member of staff opened our door whilst we were chatting she did apologise but I find this unacceptable!
The Wacky Warehouse was a nice addition and my daughter loved it also the huge garden and play area the staff were very pleasant to but the toilets could of done with a good clean in here.
We didn't eat here (made reservations in Southampton City Centre - approx. 20 minutes by car) glad we did as the food coming out didn't look great and many tables outside needed to be cleaned.
Also when I asked for an ironing board & iron I had to carry it myself rather than someone bringing it to our room and no one helped me with the door?
Breakfast time......very slow and it was only half full there is no hot buffet you have to order hot food everything else is self serve, but staff were great and doing their best.
Overall I would stay again if we had a better single/child bed provided.

Room Tip: Room away from the Pub and Reception Area

Totally disagree with Alice review...this hotel is under going a modernisation no problem for us we read on the website before booking and our email from the hotel advices us a swell. Excellent friendly checkin with by Jane and Nicole nothing too much trouble..we were lucky to have a new refurb end room which was very clean with all the mod cons...spent a day a paultons park we got soaking wet jane kindly dried our clothes in the tumble dryer above what we expected..the Vine next door is not so good short staffed and food not good..

Room Tip: If u like a great welcome stay here

We stayed here to go to a wedding in the new forest; 2 nights cost is £115 so fairly reasonable. Hotel is £17 in a taxi from southampton centre so a bit out of the way the only shop in walking distance is a small cooperative at the local petrol station accompanied by a McDonald's! There is a Faye and square pub with average food at reasonable prices attached to the hotel. Rooms are spacious and clean and standard to most premier inns. The downfall was the breakfast for £8.75 I've had much better, it was very bland and greasy. Staff in the hotel were great, in the restaurant again disappointing with poor service and long waits but overall our experience was positive

Great location of hotel both for Southampton and obviously Peppa Pig world (aka Paulton's park). The hotel gave us everything we required and considering it was the school holidays with lots of kids around we hardly heard a soul at night. The restaurant/pub was very busy and food service was a longer time in coming than would normally be acceptable, however still good considering the numbers of people dropping in on their way home from the theme park. Overall, good visit!

What a dump ! It's like a 3rd rate motel, and very unhelpful reception staff. I have never asked for a refund at premier inns but this place is a joke. I told the receptionist I wanted a refund under the good night guarantee (don't forget it's suppose to be no fuss no quibble) reason being we were woken up my work men arriving to do the refurb at 7.30, (not good when you have a long journey ahead with two 5 year olds) the rude lady practically called us liars and said they did not come until 8am. I work for whitbread and would never treat a guest like that. Avoid this filthy dump.
