Stayed overnight at the end of March as were meeting another couple who lived locally, for dinner & drinks. The place has a nice character and in a good location, easy to find.

Room no. 10 was at the front but the road outside is pretty quiet at night. It was clean & simple, but a few downsides - 1) Slated ceiling (where the roof is) on the left side of the room just above left side of the bed, both my partner & I walked into it when leaning over to pick up stuff from the side bed table, 2) It is slippery getting out of the bath, 3) Like quite a few other mentioned, noisy plumbing.

We had dinner at the room near the bar area at the recommendation of our friends, it was nice & casual. Shared starters were not bad. For mains 3 of us had the Seabream which was cooked perfectly but a bit bland. My partner ordered a medium rare beef burger which was over cooked. Dessert was pistachio cheesecake with coconut sorbet which was lovely I must say.

The restaurant is a pleasant part of the place where we both had full English breakfast the next morning, both poached & scrambled eggs were nicely done.

Overall stay was alright but a little overpriced for the value. We might stay there again for the convenience of not having to drive after drinks.

Room Tip: Rooms at the front face a quiet road and overlook the hills. Room 9 seems to be the favorite, our ro...

Good beer and good bar food served by very pleasant bar staff. Happy to serve residents into the small hours. Good full English breakfast too.

Rooms were comfortable with good linen and towels. Plenty of hot water. Main host told us he and his family before him have owned this place since the 1970s and long may they continue.

Having purchased some tickets for the Garsington Opera we needed a place to stay overnight and found the Chequers Inn on the internet. The Inn is about twenty minutes away from Garsington but as there were six of us the taxi fare was not prohibitive. We could have driven but we all enjoy to have a drink. The cost of the taxi was £90.00 for a return journey, £15.00 each.

We arrived at the Inn just after lunch and received a very warm welcome from the friendly and helpful staff. We were escorted to our room and shown the facilities available. The room was of a good size with en-suite bathroom. The rooms were clean and well fitted out. The standard of breakfast was good and ample, all served in a comfortable and bright restaurant.

Overall the service and accommodation was very good, although we did not dine at the Inn the menu is extensive both for dining and snacks. We would like to stay here on our next visit to the Garsington Opera. Wi-Fi is available throughout the Inn free of charge.

We stayed last weekend while attending a wedding locally. The room was clean and well appointed. Downside was the noisy plumbing and the fact I couldn't get the shower cool enough for me though my OH was quite content. Scrambled egg was divine but downside of breakfast was lack of vegetarian options..and the pub menu was very limited in this respect. That said the bed was comfortable and we slept well.

Room Tip: We had the room backing onto the car park..only issue had I not been so tired was the light shining...

We stayed at the Chequers after attending a wedding locally. We were welcomed warmly and our room was very clean, comfortable and newly decorated. The bathroom was also freshly refurbished, nice thick towels, good drenching shower. The only downside was the noise of the plumbing. Breakfast was very good, choice of full English or continental and served in a very pleasant and fresh breakfast room. All in all we has a pleasant comfortable stay and will happily return should we need to stay in the area again. The value was good at £85 per night b&b in such an expensive area

Room Tip: We had room 12 which was at the back of the hotel at the far end of the corridor and quite quiet des...

This is an excellent overnight business hotel/pub. Rooms are very clean and a good size. Breakfast is good. The views from the second floor across the fields is very nice. The road outside is quiet at night but the front bedrooms are literally a few feet from it so any passing cars are audible. Not bad but noticeable. The rear facing rooms are much quieter.

My partner and I spent one night here over Easter and thoroughly enjoyed it!
Our room (room 9) was lovely - pretty, comfortable and clean - overlooking a field with the hills beyond. Dinner was good and breakfast included both a continental and cooked selection.
The service throughout our stay was excellent, in particular from general manager Nick, who was extremely amiable, helpful and efficient; from my telephone booking, to letting us know that we need only ask if we'd like more vegetarian options for dinner, and generally being very approachable, welcoming and accommodating. Guiseppe, the restaurant manager, was also very friendly and attentive. I particularly the Italian music at breakfast!
All in all, a very enjoyable stay; very happy with all aspects of Chequers Inn and would certainly recommend it.The only suggestion I would make is that it might be an idea to provide some thinner pillows (all 4 were very plump and fuller than I would have liked) but this is just a small point in an otherwise delightful stay which we hope to repeat sometime later this year. Thanks again for a great stay!

Room Tip: We stayed in room 9 and were very happy with it. I'd suggest asking for a room facing the hills.
