“Style, elegance, beauty and a great staff.”
Reviewed 25 February 2011 for a stay in December 2010

One can tell that much planning went into the building and decor of this hotel - there is so much sophisticated beauty in all the furnishings in all the rooms - the artwork, the colors, the furniture, the layout - I was surrounded by warmth and elegance. It was great also having a gym to workout in. The only downside is that it is up on the hill, which gives you a good view, but you have to walk down to the beach. It's doable, but sometimes I get lazy on vacation.

“Our favorite find in Amed”
Reviewed 7 February 2011 for a stay in January 2011

We have visited Amed quite often over the years and watched it grow. It is truly turning into the best hot spot of Bali. But when we walked through the gates of Katana Villa, our breath was taken away. What a paradise and what a surprise! It has everything one could want and just a joy to stay there. Even though we were steps from the beach we never left the compound. We had a blast in the pool... all of us adults were splashing and sliding down the slide during the day then at night some of us got romantic in the underwater cave by candle light. The staff said to make ourselves at home, and that is exactly what we did. We even ordered catering from a restaurant and the food arrived hot and delicious. They set it up for us and treated us like royalty. Breakfast was also very good... a nice set up and the staff is super charming. We will certainly go back regularly. This place is magical and I have to say the photos do not do it justice. It is a hidden gem and a villa for people that like nature, artistic flare., relaxation, and a touch of elegance. We highly recommend this place!

It warms our hearts to hear how much you enjoyed yourselves. This is exactly what we want for our guests! We at Katana Villa look forward to your next visits... Wayan Dollie will be sure to wax the slide before you arrive so it will be super slippery for you again! ;-)

“A unique aesthetic treasure in an authentic setting”
Reviewed 13 January 2011 for a stay in January 2011

We spent a week with extended family, including grandparents, a toddler and teenagers in Katana Villa. We were all in awe with it! The villa offers not only a paradise-like haven in the middle of the Bali countryside, but nurtures both the body and the soul. The villa is a "maison d'artiste" - the complex including the main house and two bungalows are all artworks as such. We have travelled five continents, but nowhere have we seen such use of color, which is simultaneously bold and fully in harmony with the surrounding nature. The villa is more like a home that you are welcome to use. The incredible staff is there to make you feel truly taken are of. The pool is amazing - with a slide and an elevation for small guests. There is big garden, with Koi- and turtle ponds. The facilities include a state-of-the-art gym. There are home-theatre equipment in two separate spaces, there is a wi-fi connection and you can get a massage any time you like! All this completely in harmony with the environment.
The view offers all you can wish for. You see the stunning mountains usually with a bit of haziness adding the magical atmosphere and in front the villa there is the view to the ever changing sea.
There are excellent diving and snorkeling possibilities right nearby. There are also many restaurants with an easy reach, that also serve you into the villa if you wish.
There are only two types of people that should not take Katana Villa into consideration: if you are an avid fan of extremely spartan, empty interiors or if you are afraid of frogs, small lizzards, butterflies, spiders aso. The Villa's living room is "outside" in the way that you hardly can avoid the nature sometimes approaching you.
We instantly became fans of Katana and are certainly planning to return. It is amazing to find such a treasure in the middle of the sleepy fisherman's village!

Thank you for such a lovely review. We are tickled that you enjoyed yourselves so much! It was a pure joy for the entire staff to have you and your family at katana Villa. Your family was the largest group we had so far, so I was concerned at first how the staff would do, especially for the breakfast set up with so many children, but they did well and to this day they still talk fondly of their time with you all. I hope to meet you in person one day when you visit Bali again... ;-)

“A TRUE Bali getaway!”
Reviewed 24 November 2010 for a stay in April 2010

My husband and I are huge travelers. We are not into run of the mill "touristy" spots. When we visit a country we look for something unique that has kept the flavor of the area we are visiting. Not to say we ever rough it. Just the opposite! We look for that perfect blend of nature and luxury. Thanks to a recommendation from Casa Chameleon in Mal Pais Costa Rica(another hidden gem), we found it for Bali at Katana Villa. A perfect choice for a honeymoon, or anyone who wants to have a unique and wonderful experience in Bali! We will be returning! Thank you to the owners and wonderful staff who made this a fantastic trip full of wonderful memories!

We are flattered to have been recommended by someone as far away as Costa Rica! We have not yet visited Casa Chameleon, but now we are sure to check it out. This warms our hearts to know people are appreciating their stay at Katana Villa and are sharing that joy with others. It was a true pleasure having you stay with us!

“The place, the view, the atmosphere, a dream come through”
Reviewed 18 November 2010 for a stay in October 2010

Located above the village with an incredible view to the sea, Katana villa is truly an amazing discovery. I have been a guest on several occasions and am still in awe of the colorful sunrises and  the green of the mountains rising high behind the villa. The rooms are decorated with tastefull imagination and  built with  local natural materials.I especially appreciated the outdoors with the fun waterslide into this turquoise pool. An oasis of peace and beauty with Western amenities. A place to rest , relax and yet with a few steps down the hill one can bathe in the sea.

As always, it is our joy to have you at Katana Villa! I feel blessed to have gotten to know you, and now the staff thinks of you as family. I appreciate how you taught them to make lemon grass tea. They are always eager to learn new things so they can serve our guests better! Thank you ;-)

“Taking a break at Katana Villa to rest and relax was the best decision I have made in a long time.”
Reviewed 19 October 2010 for a stay in October 2010

The loving attention to detail made the villa feel like my (dream) home away from home within minutes of arriving. The luxurious beds, soft towels and linens, fully equipped kitchen.... The loving touches put everywhere in the design and decor provided a constant source of discovery and delight.
Away from the hustle and bustle, pollution and noise of south Bali, Amed feels like a million miles away, and yet every technical convenience is supplied at Katana, from Wi-Fi to giant flat-screen T.V.s, fully equipped gymn and a great stereo system. Set on a hill overlooking the ocean, the whole complex is set up to take advantage of it's stunning location, with different well shaded seating areas in the garden so that you can't resist trying them all out!
The staff are happy, efiicient and relaxed: the perfect support for my relaxation.
The slide into the swimming pool is nothing short of a stroke of genius - we all need to whoop and squeal a little more, not just the kids!
Thanks for a great break, next time I want to stay longer!!

“Top end tropical luxury with breath-taking beauty”
Reviewed 9 September 2010 for a stay in July 2010

When you're sitting in LA traffic dreaming about that week-long getaway at an island paradise - this place is precisely what you're imagining! Lush, magnificent views of the ocean and gorgeous hillsides. Sitting by the marvelous pool and reading three novels over the course of teh stay - interrupted only by scooter rides around the island and lunch and dinner escapades at delicously local spots. Ah, just writing about it makes me hear my "mileage statement" calling out!! Return trip? Can't be far off.
