“Bollywood comes to Whitehead”
Reviewed 9 July 2013

I do enjoy taking a turn on the Blackhead cliff path. There has been a lot of added activity for the past week with a film crew and all their vehicles making a movie there. They had statues and a car that was flipped over using cables on a crane. They blew it up after I was gone. The film is a "Bollywood" one, and the actors and many of the crew looked Indian. All very exciting, I was told it is an action movie and they're filming a car crashing out through the sea wall. The crowds who walk the path would stand watching the extra attraction, while many locals on the hill above watched in curiosity. I did go out on a proper walk to the lighthouse afterwards, it is so different in high summer. So many more daytrippers, birds and boats. Greart weather, also, very hot, although I do enjoy the path on wild winter days also.

“Fantastic scenery”
Reviewed 18 May 2013

I come for a walk regularly, either with my children or a friend. It is a great length to give yourself a workout walking up around the lighthouse, or a safe leisurely stroll with the children on the flat. Highly recommended for the scenery and to blow away the cobwebs!

“A lovely place to walk.”
Reviewed 20 April 2013

I walk along this path most mornings in dry weather. Not only is this walk good exercise for my bad back but it is an interesting ever changing seascape. I often see birds, cows, rabbits, different boats, flowers etc as well as meeting different people each day I walk this path. I would recommend a visit, the invigorating sea air really sets me up for the day and the scenery has inspired some of my paintings!

“At Winter's End”
Reviewed 16 March 2013

We went for a walk on Whitehead’s cliff path. It was a windy day, and we loved the fresh sea breeze, the smell of seaweed, and the sound of the gulls. We went up and around the Blackhead lighthouse. The steps are a bit of a struggle, but they’re OK if you stop and admire the view of the Islandmagee coast from halfway up. There are also several very welcome benches at the top and further down the rest of the path where you can even sit and enjoy a packed lunch.
Many places in Whitehead sell take-away food. There is Maud’s Ice Cream and the Avenue fish shop on Victoria Avenue, or the Old Tea Shop and the bakery at either end of King’s Road. You’ll have to go far to find as scenic a place top eat “out” as the Blackhead Cliff Path!

“Great walk”
Reviewed 18 January 2013

Many people like to walk their dogs along Whitehead's famous Promenade. There are steps down to a beach, so dogs can run in the surf when the tide is out. The Blackhead Path goes all the way out to the pictureque lighthouse up on the cliffs. Depending on the weather you can go all the way along to see sea caves or the lighthouse, or turn back earlier. There are always walkers there, no matter what month of the year you go. There are now new signs and exercise machines along the way. There is an automated toilet and a picnic area next to the car park at the bottom of |Castleview Road. From there you can sometimes see people in kayaks, or seals in Belfast Lough. Day trippers can get an ice cream at Maud's, or tea and cake at the old tea house. The train station leaves you right next to the Promenade.
