“Great stay and lovely hostess”
Reviewed 23 March 2014

We felt very welcome. Our hostess, Sue, gave us well documented tips about walks and the nearby beaches. All the beautiful beaches were in reaching distance. The breakfast was excellent with a lot of home made products. The large and beautiful garden was an unexpected extra. Truus and David

Room Tip: The B&B has a spacious living room and there are all the facilities for self catering

Dear David & Truus, Thank you for choosing to stay at Oyster River, and your lovely comments. I am still picking figs from the tree, they are so sweet, and am going to make some jam with the rest of the pears. This time of the season, is the best!

I wish you both well, all the very best, Sue & Paul.

Every place where we stayed in New Zealand was great. But this one was very special, we regret our stay was only 2 nights.

Susan has one lodge, self-contained with a great bed. The garden is amazing large, with small waterfalls where you can swim and a lot of birds.

The place is very central, nearby a lot of tracks and activities. Also the AirPort from Auckland is good attainable.

Oyster River was our last stay in NZ, but when we come back one day our first!!!

Greetings, Jarno & Nicole

Dear Jarno and Nicole, it was lovely to have you to stay at Oyster River.
Yes, time is short, when one arrives late in the afternoon, one really needs a third night to totally relax and enjoy the surroundings. There is a lot to do around Cooks Beach, gorgeous beaches and walking tracks, and you need time to enjoy our garden.

All the very best to you both, and perhaps as you say, one day we will see each other again.

Susan & Paul Warren.

Even before we were out of the car, Sue was already outside to welcome us. It is a lovely little house in a beautifull garden. We are welcome to use the garden. Sue really makes you feel at home. Every day she brings a lovely breakfast, everything home made and sometimes out of het own garden. She also tells you all you want to know about all the things you can do in the area and all the nice places to go. A great places to be.

Room Tip: Much space and very quiet. Lots of birds and in the middle of nature.

We had a fantastic time at Oyster River on our honeymoon from the UK! Sue and Paul are amazing and went massively out of their way to ensure we felt relaxed and at home. The grounds are beautifully maintained and great to have a wander round. If we find ourselves back in New Zealand, we will definitely return to see Sue and Paul!
Thanks for a great stay!

At the end of our trip we were a bit tired and we planned for a relaxing day.
Oyster River was just the place for that.
Very close to some peaceful beaches at Cooks Bay, but also Hot water Beach and the Cathedral Cave are in a short distance.
The breakfast is lovely and served to your spacious room.
In the evening you can just relax in the big garden, reading or watching birds and get a pizza from next door winery. Otherwise the ferry to Whitianga is nearby.

We loved this B&B. The grounds were beautiful with a cascading stream running through the spacious garden and manicured lawns to collect in a natural pool suitable for a cooling dip. It was so peaceful yet close to Cooks Beach and the ferry to Whitianga. Our continental breakfast, complete with tablecloth was delivered to our spacious fully equiped self-contained unit. We were sooo appreciative of Susan's assistance when one of us became I'll. I would definitely recommend a stay at Oyster River B &B.

Room Tip: There is only one double room with comfortable Queen bed so you have the place to yourself.
