Sungai Lembing used to be one of the major tin mining town in Malaysia and hence, this little museum is with a lot of information regarding the history of tin mining. For those who are interested in learning about old time tin mining processes, this is a great place to be besides climbing panorama hill and hike for rainbow waterfall.

This is my second time visiting this place and my memory was still fresh. This trip I brought my Mother in Law together as she was working there about 30 over years ago and wanted to let here to have a refresh of her memory.

This museum was excellent in putting up the artifect of those mining years. I personally recommending all to visit this museum and down the memory lane.

We also visited the old factory site which now leaving just the piller !!

A enjoyable day in Sg lembing I can say.

Plenty of displays and lots of information available especially on the history of tin mining. Good if you have a kid going for history subject examination. Entrance is free which is a bonus and you are able to take picture inside the gallery hall. Good place to spend time in Sungai Lembing.

Must see when you are at Sungai Lembing. Situated at the hill, the museum itself actually is the PCCL former managers house. Sungai Lembing, being once the largest subterranean mine in the world, had many quaters for it's PCCL staffs. Open daily from 9am to 5pm, free entrance, only closed on Hari Raya Aidilfitri and Hari Raya Aidil Adha.(Malaysia public holiday).
-The display will make once walking to the history of mining at Malaysia. The underground tunnels were dug manually, with the occasional usage of explosives. Before any mining work undertaken, geologist will identify tin deposits araes to ensure continous operation. The deepest tunnel Myah Mines , is measured 700 metres below ground!! The distance between each tunnel is 30 metres, overall lenght of tunnels is 322 kilometres! Anyway these underground tunnel are unstable and no longer safe to visit, due to disuse, constant flooding and cave-ins. In museum there one mni structure of tunnels.
There are still some miners at Sg Lembing, they are old, around 80years old. Interview with local people than you will find more abount the place. Shop opposite it selling VERY VERY GOOD chicken soup in noodles. reasonable price, RM 4.00per bowl. Also selling Thai food, because owner's wife is Thai.
