We've just returned from our holiday in Arpora while there we booked onto the overnight trip on Laid Back Waters after doing the trip several times last year, we had already planned to go back on board this year and again after three trips this year all thoroughly enjoyed, meeting the crew again was great all still as helpful as ever nothing was too much trouble, the boat and cabins all clean and in good repair. We met twelve other people over the three trips some seemed a little sceptical on boarding the boat and all got off saying how great a time they'd had very relaxing and peaceful, food courtesy of Gopal was always really tasty and plentiful. We are returning to Goa next year and will be returning to the boat all being well. So again many thanks to the crew
Ramesh, Ashish, Anan, Guru and Gopal the shy chef who all help make the trip more memorable (sorry if any names not quite correct) also not forgetting the help from Lyndon and Priyanka in the office.
Very nice and relaxing. The service was good - maybe a little too good because one of the waiters talked very loudly the entire morning, and when you come for a quiet time that was a disappointment.
We went on this trip last year and will certainly be doing it again this year. Had a fabulous time it was that good we did it 3 times captain Ramesh and crew made it even more enjoyable with their knowledge of the river. Each time we did it we saw something different. Very laid back and relaxing. A trip well worth doing
We were picked up from our hotel in South Goa and arrived at the boat after a two hour white knuckle drive. It seems the drivers do not allow enough time and it was a rush to get there.
The crew are great. The accomodation is basic and quite claustrophobic and close. The attached bathroom is poor with a broken toilet seat and a shower which did not drain properly so one is left in dirty standing water.
We were served a basic dinner and brekfast on the boat which was fine.
The cruise is great but can be done as a day trip of three hours. The return journey to our resort was another log two hour dustry drive and we were glad to be back in our hotel.
Me and my family visited Goa in January 2018. Our guide recommended to take 1 night on Laid Back Waters. It was an amazing experience. We had a really great time onboard. The boat was in great condition, really neat rooms, the starf was really kind and the food was amazing. I Will surely recommend this experience if you are visiting Goa!
We booked though Thomson when we were staying at the Dona Sylvia Resort in South Goa.
We were collected by a friendly driven and were driven, in an air condition car, through the villages up to North Goa, that in itself was an interesting trip. I must add that we felt very safe with the driver, the driving out there is different to in the UK!
We arrived at 4.45pm and boarded a beautiful boat and met the very friendly staff and we were made to feel very welcome. Due to the other couple being unwell we had the boat to ourself, we were well looked after, served amazing food and all of our questions about the river and surrounding area were answered!
We were shown our room, it was a room called fire and it was lovely, the window was open and the window dressings were floating in the light breeze. When we went to bed we managed to sleep very well, it was one of those, pinch myself moments when we woke up, all we could hear was the lapping of the water on the boat, it was beautiful!
Once we had settled we were taken along the river to watch the sunset, and that was a fantastic sight. We were taken back to our mooring spot for the night and we had a gorgeous meal cooked for us. Tasty butter chicken, prawn curry, fried prawns, boiled rice and rice with fried cabbage, this was followed by sweet bananas. We had to pay for our drinks but they were very cheap, the water was free.
After our meal we sat on the top deck and read our books, it was so peaceful, cool and relaxing.
We were up by 6.05am to watch the sunrise and then we were cooked tasty omlettes and ate as much toast as we wanted, washed down with tea or coffee. Then we started the calm journey along the Chapora River. There was so much to see and so many people stopped and watched us sail past, everyone wanted to wave to us. There were fisherman on the water and men diving for oysters, we saw numerous flying fish, birds, water buffalo and two brightly coloured kingfishers fly past us! We were not lucky enough to see a crocodile on our trip. My husband was allowed to steer the boat for a while which he absolutely loved.
We returned back and we were served a hot lunch which was once again lovely. We didn't want the day to end!
This is one of the best trips that we have done, it is hard to put into words how to describe it. Serene, tranquil, calming just stunning!
Thank you to all the staff aboard Laidback Waters that made us feel so special, we haven't stopped sharing our trip and showing everyone the photos that I took!
Three couples from the Taj Exotica hotel shared a one-night cruise on this Keralan houseboat. The meals were very good. A multi-element dinner was followed by a breakfast with scrambled egg and a vegetarian lunch. We were moored at the riverside during the night. Several different species of bird could be seen, but you really need binoculars. The bedrooms are comfortable and have en suite facilities. The crew are friendly and we all had a great time. Just three couples is perhaps the perfect number for such a cruise.
