Fantastic family run B+B. Welcoming and clean. Nothing too much trouble. Very friendly owners who will do anything to help and ensure your stay is comfortable. Very accomodating for children including a young baby. Food very good - homecooked. Tea room to be recommended, especially the deserts and cakes.

The manager was friendly, and the place looked very traditional and olde worlde from the outside. However we weren't impressed with the room. The window was tiny which made the room very dark. The bed was the smallest double I've ever seen. There was paint peeling off the radiator, the headboard was hanging off. Only one mug between two of us. We could hear TV loudly through the thin walls from the room next door, while we didn't have one! The lounge smelled very damp, and the breakfast room had (clean) washing draped all over the tables.
We forfeit our deposit and headed on, so I can't comment on breakfast, which I'm sure would have been lovely.
Probably OK for rough and ready back packers, but not for my dainty constitution!

Disappointed! The attractive photographs of this B&B were sadly not reflected by the accommodation provided:

On entering, the lounge looked and felt like entering a youth hostel – dark and dreary decor with mis-matched furniture and pile of ironing, along with rotary iron in one part of the room. Our bedroom was very basic, which would have been fine, but it DID NOT have any of the following:

Information pack giving details of the accommodation/owners/places to visit, tv, hair dryer, teaspoons, enough milk for a drink, biscuits or bottles of water, bath mat, glass in bathroom, clock – all of which the other B&B’s had provided during our tour of the Highlands over the past six days,... oh and there was no fire drill information in our bedroom, the shower leaked onto the floor, towels were very thin and the curtain wasn’t hooked up properly in the bedroom! We only had one very flat pillow each and the bed 'twanged' whenever my husband turned over on it! Neither of us slept well and were awaken early by a young toddler next door screeching and running up and down on the noisy bedroom floor.

It was as though accommodating us was a mere afterthought, yet a deposit had been requested when I booked some weeks earlier - the only one of the six different B&B's we stayed at during our journey to to do so and yet the others were so much better. Sadly, we won’t use this B&B again.

Steve was friendly and welcoming and breakfast was very good, (however they didn't include a second knife each for the jam/marmalade). This may seem trivial, but as I said earlier, we stayed at six other B&B's/guesthouses and attention to detail/comfort was so much better and after all - we were paying for a comfortable stay! Sorry - not recommended.

We stayed one night here and where welcomed from the start. We had a nice meal and the desert was excellent. Nice friendly family looked after us and nothing was too much trouble.
They even made us lunch for our long bike ride the next day.

Very homely, warm, clean, with excellent breakfasts and comfy beds.
Arrive early and try the Tea Room for lunch and yummy cakes, all home made,
you can see them cooking in the kitchen.
Lovely welcoming family, nothing is too much trouble and they even liked our goofy dog.
Beautiful views, backing directly onto the Howgills complete with fell ponies.Pity they can't control the weather.
Will be calling there again for sure.
