This was our first family vacation with our 35 month old son. Originally, we booked a "lakefront resort unit" as part of a package through another website. When we got there, the picture we saw on the website was NOT the accomodations we were actually booked in. The staff was wonderfully understanding, and upgraded us to one of their log cabins. If you do stay at Trail's End, spend the extra money for the cabin. It is so worth it! The resort units are pretty outdated, and the one we almost stayed in had a mildewy, musty smell that I couldn't get past. Clean, but not for us.
The location is great. Right up the road from Silver Dollar City, and right on the lake. They have a dock, and very reasonable boat rentals. We rented a bass boat for half the day, and it was a great addition to our weekend. The cabin was clean and well stocked with essentials, and even had a fireplace. It was extremely quiet, which was so nice! Plenty of room for our son to play and for us to relax. My husband did some fishing off the dock, but unfortunately didn't catch anything. It is definitely no frills, so don't expect room service or turn down service, but with a kitchen, it's great if you want to save a few bucks on food.
The only negative things I can say are that the beds are old and kind of uncomfortable (bring an extra pillow or two from home, too), and the hot water could have lasted longer. Also, if you are thinking you're going to eat out, be ready to drive a considerable distance into town. It wasn't an issue for us, but you should definitely know you're not on the strip.
Overall, we had a great time, and will definitely go back. Do not stay here if you are wanting to be pampered, but do stay if you want to relax away from the hustle and bustle of Branson.

We spent 3 nights here during the Christmas holiday. The cabin was very cozy and quaint and we enjoyed our stay. It is not luxurious by any means but clean and quiet. We have stayed in motels for this price that did not have a fireplace or a kitchen as this cabin did. The only suggestion that I would have for the owners is that they need to include some type of cabinet or rack for people to hang their clothes.

Located on the lake. Park like setting with swings and waterfront.
Paddleboats available.
Rooms very clean but antiquated - '50/'60 era decorating - vinyl chairs showed much use.
Noisy refrigerator and window AC unit.
Limited TV channels.
Similar unit along America's byways could only command half the rate charged in Branson.
Great spot for families wanting to minimize food expenses - has small kitchen with utensils and an outdoor grill.
Down the road from Silver Dollar City - congestion at peak times.
Does not have much romantic appeal.
Staff is very friendly

Trails End Resort is part of Indian Point Resorts. I have stayed there twice and will not do it again. On first arriving, I thought the cabin was old but quaint and looked forward to the week. Cabins smell very musty. A dehumidifier ran in our room during our entire stay. The air conditioner was not able to cool the room. The bed was very old and lumpy. Needless to say, we didn't get much sleep that week. The day bed was just as bad as the bed we slept in. The floor was greatly sagging and hard for my wife to walk across at times. Get up early to take your shower or there may not be enough hot water! Each cabin has a deck facing the water which was nice, although they were not in very good condition. I swept off as much dirt and debris from the deck and picnic table as I could. It was full of ants so we opted to not eat on the deck. We woke up the first morning to realize the room had fleas! I will say that when we notified the office, they sent maintenance out right away to spray the room - no offer to move us to another room even though many units were empty. Proximity to Table Rock Lake and their three boat docks are about the only good thing I can say about this resort. I wish it was a nicer place to stay - the location and the lake are great! We are staying at Tribesman next time.
