This is a great location for a getaway to unwind from the city and explore beautiful Vancouver Island! The owners really make you feel at home and while we stuck with the included continental breakfast, it included freshly-baked muffins, toast, delicious fresh fruit and more and was delivered whatever time you set. There was also an excellent assortment of coffee, teas, and snacks available in the room. TV's and Netflix use are included so it is a perfect place to relax!
There is a beach with a stunning view of a bay and islands only a 5 minute walk away - great for a picnic or to watch the sunset. We took a taxi to/from the Sidney Ferry Terminal which was really easy and also took a taxi (~10 mins, $15) to the nearby transit station to catch a bus to downtown Victoria which worked great. Overall, this was an amazing place to stay in a great location!
Karen and Howie and extremely kind, sweet and friendly. Karen even brought us warm home made muffins to welcome us! The suite is perfectly maintained, holding more than we expect. And the best are the host, with whom we wish to become friends!
Me and my family are from the Vancouver Mainland and we booked our stay at this lovely BnB for a week. We were 5 people (3 adults and 2 kids) and we really enjoyed our stay. The hosts (Karry and Howie) were the best hosts we have ever seen. We felt that this was less of a business for them, but they were passionate about what they are doing. They go out of their way to make their guest feel at home.
They opened their home to us and it felt like we were living with family.
From a travelers perspective:
a) Best Breakfast you can ask for so that you are charged up for the day. Fresh Fruits (mangoes, strawberries, blackberries, blueberries, wmelon, kiwi etc (yum!), Fresh Bread, Eggs cooked the way you like, cofee, tea, juices, AND all kinds of cherios, corn flakes and other bfast meals.
b) Awesome location: 10 mins drive from the ferry, 5 mins drive from Airport, 5 mins walk from a beach, 30 mins drive from Downtown Victoria, and 10 mins drive to Sidney.
c) Facilities: Good Wifi in every room. Access to Washer and Dryer in the main house. TV's with cable in every room. Private 6 burner Kenmore BBQ on a lovely deck with Awesome patio furniture, in front of a well manicured lawn with fruit trees.
d) Interiors: Good furniture - mostly hardwood and very comfortable and good quality beds and couches. (not the flimsy Ikea kind) .
We felt Karry and Howie know quality and believe in giving their guest the best experience, without any compromise on quality.
We would only stay here, the next time we visit Vancouver Island.
This b & b is located in a quiet area of N. Saanich. Our hostess Karie was really wonderful and accommodating - she even came by car to rescue us when we got lost finding our way to Sidney. We had the whole bottom floor of the house and every room was spacious and beautifully decorated. Really loved the plush towels and robes - lots of lovely touches to make the stay comfortable. Breakfast was also wonderful - lots of choices. We only needed to stay for one night but would have loved to stay longer. We definitely recommend you give it a try!
We stayed in the "Grandmother's Cottage". The location was so quiet and peaceful, it was awesome! The setting was serene and relaxing. There are many walking trails starting on their block, some leading down to a pebble beach. The bed was super comfortable, the kitchen well equipped. The living room and dining area were very spacious and comfortable. The outside deck was nice for eating outside. Lawn chairs and beach chairs were provided. We went to the famous Butchart Gardens, only fifteen minutes away and saw their spectacular gardens as well as their grand Saturday night fireworks display. The host and hostess are very friendly, giving you all the privacy you want and at the same time, all the warm, comfortable companionship and help you need. I really can't say enough good things about the owners and their property. You would have to experience it to believe it!
While planning our wedding, we were eager to find a venue that spoke to our sensibilities, while not costing an arm and a leg. My new wife sent a short email to Karey and Howard, and I'm so glad she did! We couldn't have asked for a nicer, more supportive couple to help and accommodate us for our big day!
Right from the start, Karey and Howard did everything they could to welcome our crazy families into their home. We had an amazing day, and they both worked hard to make sure everyone was happy and taken care of.
A HUGE THANK YOU to Karey and Howard. We are forever grateful to you, as well as your amazing bed and breakfast, for providing us with everything we could have hoped for, and then some! Thanks again!
Rebecca and Chris McLeod
Our stay was delightful! We were welcomed with warm and gracious hospitality, and offered well appointed, comfortable and spacious accommodations. Many extras were thoughtfully provided at every turn to make us feel at home, like delicious warm blueberry muffins upon our arrival. Coles Bay has a small beautiful wooded park to wander through, and a hidden beach to explore. The area is quiet and pastoral, and offers a great base for the Saanich area.
