We have just returned from our fifth stay at Swinside Lodge...one of many more to come we hope. Everything about our stay here was just perfect. The room was really comfortable with lovely views and the food and whole dining experience is to die for! Nothing is too much trouble for Kath and Mike who did everything to make our stays relaxing and welcoming. The location is brilliant with Derwent Water and Cat Bells on the doorstep; and there was always helpful advice on other walks to suit us when we need it. The cosy lounge areas gave us the opportunity to chat to other interesting guests and to share hints on walks in the area. We stay in lots of hotels around the world but our stays at Swinside are the highlight of the year.....long may it continue!

We spent the recent bank holiday weekend at Swinside Lodge. Mike and Kath went out of their way to make us welcome and the stay a very happy one. The food is excellent and the rooms are tasteful and comfortable. The hotel is situated at the start of the picturesque Newlands Valley and there are numerous local walks, including a lovely one down to the lake and a slightly more rigourous one up onto Catbells. We will return to do the latter, assuming that Swinside Lodge is not permanently fully booked as it deserves.

We have just returned from a long weekend at Swinside Lodge over the August bank holiday.
Mike and Kath are superb hosts who make you feel very special throughout your stay. The Lodge is in excellent order and extremely well presented in every aspect. The food prepared in the restaurant is some of the very best we have experienced at any price. The extra attention to detail, superb service, and thoughtful touches make this one of the very best places to stay in the Northern Lake District.

We booked this hotel for a 4 day break at the last minute -- & WOW what a find! From the moment we arrived we were made to feel genuinely welcome by our hosts - Mike & Kath - nothing was too much trouble. The room was spotless, comfortable with a great view of the fells behind. Very peaceful but ideal for exploring or walking. Then came the food - truly spectacular 4 course dinners - absolutely delicious with impecable service even when the hotel was full on the Saturday night. Breakfasts were excellent - you need to do some serious walking to work off the full Cumbrian! We will be recommending to all our friends.

All aspects of this hotel are excellent.
The rooms, location and food are exemplary.
It’s a perfect get away from the maddening crowd.
We have stayed at Swinside Lodge Hotel on a number of previous occasions and look forward to returning soon.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Elm room, which has a very large bed and a great view.
