So much to explore in Bali & yet I keep coming back to this beautiful island & to my 'second home' at Ring Sameton Inn...... here are my impressions after returning from my third trip:
Nusa Penida is still a tranquil place, traditional, uncomplicated & genuinely welcoming to the few tourists that make the trip (1 hour from Sanur by public boat - so hitch up your pants, walk out to the boat & clamber on board.... you will find that less luggage/travelling light here is a bonus!).
The pace on Nusa Penida is quiet & somehow gentle, with beautiful beaches, temples & interesting villages to explore right across the island. Getting around is also really easy.
Ring Sameton Inn has very spacious rooms, really huge, comfortable beds & great food at the restaurant (best Gado Gado & fish). As a single traveller I feel welcomed, included & connected to the pace & daily life at Ring Sameton & the surrounding community, with the owners & staff sharing their knowledge & stories to bring the history & island alive.
They are also attentive, thoughtful & very helpful, ensuring that you are comfortable & enjoying your stay; things like arranging a knowledgable guide to take you to visit a local temple for evening prayer, or a trip to the local markets, or for bigger expeditions around the island (land & boat).
This is why I travel back to Nusa Penida & why the Ring Sameton is my 'second home'; & why being here is a unique & authentic experience & one (sadly), that is lacking in some other destinations on mainland Bali.
Cant believe Im the first one to review the Ring Sameton; it's a gem & so worth the trip across the water to discover & explore this beautiful island paradise.
