“Cosy Cabin”
Reviewed 25 March 2017 for a stay in March 2017

Just back from a couple of nights stay in this cosy little cabin,
It was clean and tidy on arrival, the hot tub and sauna are fab as is the fact that it's fully enclosed as we had our dog with us so she pretty much had the run of the decking which runs all round the cabin.
The walks near by are lovely and not to difficult.
Village has a small shop and cafe plus the local community has a bar and grill but this is seasonal
Would definitely recommend this Cabin

“Comfortable cabin with walks and nature on doorstep”
Reviewed 19 October 2016 for a stay in October 2016

The cabin was peaceful, nicely situated and comfortable - once we got the shower fixed and the heating sorted out...! Lovely walks on the doorstep. Decent wi-fi in the cabin (no phone signal).

The hot tub was one of the best I've used, and definitely the one with the best views - we saw a red squirrel and birds of prey in the trees above our heads! We also had lots of smaller feathery visitors to the bird feeders on the patio (bird seed can be purchased at the village store).

I would have rated this cabin at 3/5 if not for the hot tub. We did had a few issues. The place was freezing upon our arrival (see more info below). The shower wasn't working (but top marks to the site staff for managing to get an electrician to attend in such a remote area within 24 hours - and for discounting our first night's stay). The lighting in the cabin isn't great - it would benefit from a couple of lamps (to aid reading), as well as a switch outside the main bedroom to facilitate night-time loo trips. Some of the dishes (plates, glasses, baking tray) were dirty on our arrival. There isn't much room for hanging up wet towels / gear (and that was just for the two of us). None of this proved to be a showstopper though and we would return to stay here again because of the hot tub and the peace and quiet.

TIPS:
TOWELS - one large + one small towel are provided for each guest, but we were given an extra towel each for the hot tub / sauna when we requested it.

KINDLING - plenty logs were provided for the log burning stove, but I would bring your own kindling as this was not supplied upon arrival (we were given some when we asked because the electric heating had not yet kicked in). The village store sells matches and firelighters but not kindling...but we found some in the Kilmartin post office (£1.25 / bag).

ELECTRIC HEATING - if I was visiting in October again I would request that the electric storage heaters are turned on well in advance of our arrival to give them a chance to charge overnight and heat the property.

TORCH - If visiting in autumn / winter, bring a torch to light the path to the community centre bar and restaurant on site!

Management Response
26 Oct 2016
Many thanks for your feedback, and apologies again about the issue with the shower for the first night of your stay.

For the phone signal, O2 and Vodafone networks get reception, but not other networks, due to the remote location of the village. We have now added this information to the cabin description to make any future guests aware.

We will definitely take on board the comments about the lighting. There are reading lights/lamps in the bedroom, but we assume you mean in the lounge, and will consider adding spotlights around the couch to assist with this.

We have relayed the comments about the dishes to the site manager who tends to the cleaning of the cabin between guests, as well as the temperature of the cabin on arrival. The heaters are turned on around 24hrs in advance of guests arriving to allow time for the cabin to heat up, but we can only assume this was overlooked on this occasion and apologise for this. Logs are not provided for the wood burner, but it may have been that the previous guest left some. Bags of logs and kinding are readily available to purchase from the site manager Irene at the entrance to the chalet park though.

There was a torch in the kitchen drawer for those late night walks to and from the social club, but we've put an extra one in now just in case the original one is no longer there.

We're very glad you enjoyed the hot tub and your stay on the whole, and look forward to welcoming you back!

“Great Stay”
Reviewed 23 August 2016 for a stay in April 2016

Had a great relaxing stay in Dalavich which was made all the more convenient with Keith's assistance. The cabin has everything that you could ask for and the hot tub and sauna are a real treat. Dalavich is a lovely little place where everyone was friendly and welcoming.

Rented a boat to go out on the loch and explore and also tried the local hall/pub/community centre at night for some drinks.

We plan to return to the peaceful tranquillity and break from the hustle and bustle of city living.
