“Easy for family and kids”
Reviewed 8 May 2013

We rented the large house in the back of the resort (top and bottom floor with 3 bedrooms/baths, a kitchenette in each) and its own pool. We stayed with a few other families with kids ranging in ages from 2-10 years old. Check in was very fast and easy. The valets unloaded our cars and brought it to the rooms. It would have been nice to have someone from front desk escort us to the house and make sure we had the right amount of towels, blankets for our needs (of course not a big deal but would've been a nice touch). It's a great place with the pool and slider, playground, kids room and beach to keep the kids busy. There is new playground equipment. The kids felt safe and free in just running around from one spot to the next. The food at the restaurant is really good. The owners own a great cafe in Bangkok that we frequent weekly and so the European/Western food was great. Thai food is as expected. The kids menu was flexible enough that you could find something for the pickiest eater! It was a very relaxing and easy weekend for everyone. The only observations would be that the house bathrooms are worn out (mold from the humid climate), ants around the sink, and I found roaches in the kitchen area and a couple in our bedroom. I came in not expecting a four or five star resort (based on friends' comments) so I had to be ok with it and I still would give the hotel a high rating. This place could go up a notch with just a few touches (better blankets, newer towels, no pests, etc.). The surrounding area is very quiet so there's not a lot of night life. Overall - great place for families, great staff and we had a lovely stay! P.S. Always bring bug spray!

Dear Jcm, thank you very much for your detailed review. I'm glad you enjoyed your stay and thank you for the 2 issues you mentioned. We are changing the organization and will now "escort" our guest to the villa. Specially now, we built bamboo wall to make them more private. Regarding the bug situation the maintenance took care of it. We hope to see you again soon. Sincerely, Agathe

I came to Dolphin Bay for a week with my 2 children. I really enjoyed this place, very nice owners, good staff and so friendly. Everything is done for kids and all the family had a nice week.
The area is nice too, you can do a lot of things, bicycle, trip boat etc..

For Kids: Swimming pool and slide, playground, kids room and kids activities during the week-end, kids menu and chairs
For parents: Nice restaurant, Nice Wine and beers selection, relaxing atmosphere, swimming pool and sun chairs.
For the whole family: Nice and quiet beaches, sightseeing around (National park, Monkey island... )
The owner are very helpful and friendly. The staff is attentive.

Good loction for people who like the outdoor activities, nice beach in front the resort, two pools are perfect for the kids to hung out and meet new friends.
The room is clean but not as nice as some fancy hotels, we enjoy our stay because the good food, good service with a reasonable price. You also can rent bikes or motorcycles from resort to explore more this area and you may think about to buy a home here like us.You probably won't enjoy so much if you are prefer the night markets or bars. But it's not so far from Hauhin town, just get a taxi and 35 mins you're there. We really enjoy our stay at Dolphin bay resort, we will come back soon.

First time we came to Dolphin Bay we fell in love with the place and this first impression was confirmed during our second stay there!
The Resort is located on a beautiful and peaceful beach but they also have two big and clean swimming pool. The place is ideal for family but also for a week end with friends or a romantic escape.
There are many activities to do around:biking, golfing, fishing... also kayaking is a must there, my husband and I will never forget this experience!
The owners are really friendly, welcoming and helpful.
You should also deifinitely try the spa there, it is probably the best massage I had in a Resort
We will come back!

This place is ideal for families with small children. It was taken over recently by French owners. The menu will improve with introduction of some French dishes. Although Thai food is great it is good to have other dishes available. Staff are very friendly and helpful. The location is on a quiet beach reached by crossing a road, which only has light traffic. The beach is long and ideal for walks or jogging but not that appealing for swimming. However, the resort has a children's pool along side an adult pool. Although they cater for children it is not as noisy as you might think. Outside the resort are a few local eating places, which makes a change from eating at the resort all the time. Bikes are available for hire and with child seats. There is a spa offering massage and playroom with toys. If a quiet break is what you are looking for this is good value. Although the address is Hua Hin it is actually a bit further south.

Room Tip: We were two couples with one small child and stayed bin a two bedroom flat with lounge and kitchenet...

We stayed here for three nights. The two large pools, one with a water slide, were fun for the whole family. The pools are clean, warm, and one shallow enough for non swimmers to paddle around in. There were plenty of pool lounge chairs. There is a large soccer field and a newly installed playground.

Food is cheap and plentiful and delicious! We ate at the restaurant every night. The place pretty much shuts down after 9pm and there is not much else going on elsewhere in the neighbourhood.

The beach is fairly clean and the water warm. We had a great time gathering shells. You had to be careful swimming as they have jelly fish in the water. We saw one washed up on shore on our first day and one in the water on our last day.

I highly recommend the spa services. For 300 baht you could get an amazing foot massage. I had two, from Pu and Nii, and they were probably the best foot massages I've ever had.

There is a small store on site and a small minimart down the beach. There is an ATM right at the edge of the property.

Prices are very reasonable for what you get. Rooms are basic but clean. You'll be spending so much time at the pool anyways that you won't be in the room much anyways. There is free wifi but it works best in the restaurant area.

We plan to come back for another few days on our way home.

Room Tip: Bungalows are right on the pool.
