This place is great for the kids (which makes it great for the parents who want to relax).
Great pool with slide.
Great restaurant.
too bad there were jellyfish in the ocean but beach good enough for castles and pool digging.
It is our 3rd time and always happy to come back.
We had rain for a full day but the kids still have fun with the billiard, Foosball (babyfoot), movies, and other kids (there is always 20-30 kids of all ages in this resort).

Room Tip: if you don't want to be too close to the pool, ask for bungalow 10 or above.

We stayed for five nights at Dolphin Bay, having driven the 3.5-4hrs down from Bangkok, with our 2 year old son. We had never stayed at a family-oriented hotel before, but had heard amazing things about Dolphin Bay from expat friends in Bangkok. And, we were delighted to know that the owners of the hotel also own Cafe Tartine in Bangkok (which has amazing food).

For me, the most wonderful things about this place were 1) the food and 2) the clientele/staff. 1) The food is fantastic and not pricey. You don't have to go anywhere else to eat. 2) The clientele are mostly families also traveling with kids, so when your kid end up being the one at breakfast throwing a fit or a plate or crying as their father leaves the table to grab some more eggs, the other guests don't give you disapproving looks and neither do the staff. They all kind of smile as if to say "I've been in that boat too; I feel for you."

The resort has basic rooms, but really that's all you need, and the price is very reasonable. The restaurant is open most of the day so it's easy to go down and order food to take up to your room if you don't want to eat downstairs.

The grounds are well taken care of. There is a big grassy area to play ball on, and there's a nice pool with a waterslide. Just across the small road (and it is a very small road) is the beach, which is lovely. It had some jelly fish when we where there, but because our son is so young, we mostly play in the sand and wade in the ocean anyway.

We also rented bikes (one with a baby seat) and biked over to the national park and through some paths along coconut tree fields (not under the coconuts though -- that would be dangerous!).

Overall we had an amazing time, met some lovely families as our kids played in the playroom or in the pool together, and just felt at ease. I'd recommend this spot to anyone with young kids. Stay for several nights.

This was obviously not a hotel aimed for us somewhat elderly fellows. But it was quite comfortable as long as one did not mind the joyful noise of the small kids. Breakfast buffet is a bargain, and the restaurant is cheap but good as well. There are two pools, and the hotel is right next to the beach. The major problem are sand flea in the sand, and often jellyfish concentrations in the water. Thus, the beach does not provide as much fun as it might otherwise. But the view is nice anyway.

Excellent place to go with young kids - the pool and slide is perfectly located across from the dining area. The Management, especially the lady is really warm and welcoming. My only suggestion would be the menu - it needs to have a wider variety of dishes and a better chef.

Room Tip: Adjoining rooms are good.

lovely place for children with everything set up to make it perfect for kids. playground in sight of all the rooms, playroom with really good toys. carts to push kids around. art deco children's' bus. really friendly staff and a stunningly beautiful view walking out in the morning with the pool, palm trees and islands n the non so distance. only things are (i) the food could jump up a notch as they've got a monopoly on the food in the bay (other places but you'll find dolphin bay resort rammed when others are empty) as the pizza had a weird base and the panaeng curry was really watery (good flavor but that sauce needed thickening) and the burger was a bit of chewy mince lost in a supersize bun. and why do people need to pay for the pool and table football. i didn't see one person play pool or table football the entire time i was there. make it more fun as these must be tiny money spinners and throw in a bit of fun for the adults too. free pool and a fire on the beach for example??
