Being extremely fussy about beds, I had 3 wonderful nights' sleep in the masters room. No central heating but a lovely wood burning stove and an electric radiator available, so we weren't cold at all. Great breakfast, with my husband's special dietary requirements well catered for. Would thoroughly recommend.

We had a fantastic one night stay at Willoughby House. Dog friendly we stayed in Arthur's Room with our pooch which was fabulous. Everything is done to such a high standard and we were made to feel most welcome. Our room (s) were very comfortable with everything we could have asked for. We had a party to attend on the Sunday lunch and were able to use the room all morning until we had to leave which was great as we could take the dog out for a good walk before moving on. The breakfast was fantastic and served in their lovely dining room. Top notch B&B!!!!

Spectacular rooms, the friendliest service and a bespoke vegetarian breakfast that surpasses all others are just the start of your stay at Willoughby house. Sarah couldn't have been more welcoming and made every effort to look after my daughter and myself for our short stay. From the homemade flapjack that adorns the table on arrival to a selection of magazines and books in the room, it is the little touches that make this such a gem of a location. Be warned though, once you have stayed at Willoughby House, no other B&B will ever live up to it.

Room Tip: I cannot vouch for the other rooms but the first floor suite in the barn conversion will leave you speechless. It comes with log burner, vaulted ceiling and an en-suite bathroom that words cannot describe.

We were warmly welcomed to Willoughby House on a blustery night by Sarah who shared the benefit of her local knowledge of where to eat (and kindly booked us a table at the local pub). My room was located in the annex directly opposite the main house.

At first I thought I was in the wrong place as I stepped through the door into the sitting room - this boasts a 50'' television, a massive and comfy leather sofa, shelves equipped with magazines, books and DVDs plus a table with a range of hot drink options, home made flapjack and bottled water. There is an adjoining shower/wet room which gives a powerful and hot jet to relax and wash under. In the bedroom there is a large double bed, ample wardrobe space, another TV for those that like to watch while in bed.

Thoughtful touches make this an excellent place to stay. Extra electric heaters had been switched on to warm the room up; a torch was provided for unexpected power cuts, a radio was in the room and a range of towels in varying sizes were on hand for washing.

I slept like a log, which is unusual for me when staying in a strange place under a warm and snuggly duvet with a plentiful supply of pillows.

Breakfast in the morning was superb - there was a choice of cereals and fresh fruit salad, chunky slices of bread for toasting to the guest's requirements, a variety of condiments incuding local honey and a full cooked English with chipolata sausages, crispy back bacon, grilled tomatoes, fried eggs, mushrooms, black pudding, fried bread. This was all accompanied by copious amounts of tea, coffee and fresh orange juice.

I am just hoping that work takes me to the Newark area again soon so that I can stay with Sarah again.

Room Tip: Arthur's Stable is a fabulous set of rooms.

Just spent 3 nights at this elegant Georgian farmhouse - one more night than planned, as we liked it so much and were lucky there had been a cancellation so we could extend our stay. Extremely comfortable, well-appointed room and ensuite bathroom at the converted barn across from the main house.

Huge and comfortable bed, crisp bedlinen, deep towels, very good lighting, including bedside lamps (a detail so often neglected in hotels of all price ranges)... fierce wood stove made the room cosy as toast. Add to this an excellent full English at the very attractive dining room, and congenial fellow guests: a perfect little break.

We were there for the Newark Antiques fair, a huge event and tremendous fun. Norwell village is a few miles away from Newark, and a convenient location to stay overnight. Norwell is a pretty village with an old church and pub.

Our hosts were charming and affable, and their recommendations were very helpful. This part of England was new to us and we found it very interesting. We visited Southwell at the suggestion of our hosts and found it a charming Georgian town with a magnificent Minster.

Thank you, Sarah and Andrew, for a very pleasant stay.

Room Tip: The converted barn rooms are independent, with own access from the courtyard. The one on top, where we stayed, has a big modern bath tub but only a hand shower. The bathroom is so large that there is room for a sofa and a discreet wall-mounted tv set.
