I stayed here after reading reviews on TA , and it sounded great. I found that the reality was somewhat different. The hotel is 2 largish houses in a nice part of Newark, and it has pleasant gardens of which the owners are justifiably proud. This is not a cheap bed and breakfast place, my company paid £110 for a double room with breakfast. The room was not huge, the lighting was pretty poor, and the bathroom was tiny. The bed was a 4'6'' double. The evening meal was taken in the bar area, quite pleasant but let down by pennypinching on the quality of the food ingredients, very cheap and rather unpleasant, as was the glass of white wine that I managed to spill so didn't have to finish, which was a relief and the cup of coffee, which tasted of absolutely nothing.
Breakfast was taken in the restaurant, and was again fairly ordinary, but the "Lincolnshire" sausage was truly disgusting- probably sold in packs of 144 from some "value" supermarket for a couple of quid.More
