Our Choir planned a special 50th celebration for a fellow chorister - revolving around singing in Southwell Minster - and staying at The Grange. It was all a big secret to him, and some 30 of us managed to check in, and secrete ourselves in the Secret Garden, ready to surprise him.
All the staff were "in" on this, and seemed to enjoy the subterfuge as much as we did!
The hotel itself, the gardens, and above all the friendly welcome and outstanding service FAR exceeded all expectations on arrival. First appearances seem a little quaint, but this was a first-class experience from start to finish.

The birthday evening meal was fantastic - beautifully presented, and really delicious food - the menu even adapted to include a special favourite for our birthday boy.

Nothing was too much for the staff, and we are so grateful for everything. We'd recommend The Grange without hesitation.

We were staying in a group of thirty people. The hotel staff were smiling and most efficient throughout, and they played their part, with great sense of fun, in surprising one of our members who was expecting just to be staying with his wife! The breakfast was superb and when we all stayed in for dinner the food and service were again excellent in the very handsome dining room. We were also most impressed indeed by the attention to detail in the hotel and garden which are beautifully presented in very way and immaculately clean. This a really well run hotel which will make you feel very comfortable indeed.

My wife and I stayed here last night on our way from Southend to Barnsley in order to break the journey as we would be driving back south the following day.
We found the hotel to be spotlessly clean, so full marks go to our hosts in this regard.
Our (twin) room was adequate in size and the beds were very comfortable. The bathroom was equipped with a bath and electric power shower over, both of which were fine as were the complimentary toiletries.
We enjoyed dinner from the a la carte menu on the evening of our arrival, which was delicious (I had braised blade of beef which was cooked to perfection. The breakfast menu was quite extensive and catered for all tastes. My scrambled eggs and smoked salmon was just yummy. Well done to the Chef and his able staff in the kitchen.
Sadly we did not have time to explore the hotel garden. Perhaps next time, as we shall surely return to the Grange upon our next trip up north.

The Grange Hotel provided excellent accommodation for a posh weekend stay for my grandparents. The hospitality from this family run hotel was faultless. The luxurious room was full of character. The gardens were stunning and they thoroughly enjoyed the walk around. They made special note of the excellent breakfast. Having stayed in many hotels and guest houses they claimed it was one of the best. All in all highly recommend a stay. Only regret is that my grandparents stayed and not me!

I had the pleasure of staying at this great hotel for nearly a year. This isn't a Premier inn or a simple bed for the night so to people staying for a single night the hotel may appear out of touch or a little old fashioned. But this is the Grange's charm, well appointed rooms with great beds. Fantastic freshly cooked breakfasts, including smoked haddock or scrambled eggs and smoked salmon. Wonderful choice of evening meals and an extensive wine list.
Attentive and friendly staff a little jewel in the midlands - thoroughly recommend.

I could quite easily stop for another year.

Room Tip: All the rooms are good.
