We booked 4 days in a Garden Room and were upgraded to an Ocean View Room on arrival. The bungalow room with beach access, was spacious and comfortable complete with an "open air" bathroom!
A large resort, with food options en masse, buffet style (reminisce of a cruise ship with many people vying for a "good food" experience).
Resort caters well for group package accommodation with many visitors forming part of groups, including middle age single "surfers".

After much research, we opted for the "all inclusive" food/drink package (based on emails detailing package inclusions received prior to our visit, from the resort).

Unfortunately, this did not correlate to what was actually available/on offer on arrival (items listed in emails were "not available" at time of visit).

We based our choice of resort on the information received prior to visit, so we were disappointed (to say the least) as this is not a "cheap stay".

Extra activities are expensive and excursions range from US $100 +
WiFi costs US$10 per day and is only available in reception area, which can be quite some walk from accommodation rooms.

Surf break experience on the island comes at a cost (US $75 per person per day).
Our island surf experience was not great and we found a "clicky" clientele aimed at regular middle aged, single surfers visiting on a regular basis and appearing to gain confidence in groups - SHAME!
Note - newcomers wanting to "try" the surf will be critiqued and scrutinised.

We stayed in Hudhuranfushi for the first week of a two week holiday in the Maldives. There was a mix up with our transfer from the airport so we had to hang around which wasn't a good start. However, as soon as we arrived at the resort we were greeted by Suba who was so cheerful and welcoming we relaxed immediately and that set the tone for the rest of our stay. Suba has to be the happiest person I have ever met. Our Beach Villa was lovely, clean, cool and spacious, the cleaner was fantastic and scattered petals on the bed which was lovely. The sea was around 30metres from our door, excellent for sunbathing and swimming. Food was plentiful, varied and very tasty. I don't eat meat but found a good variety of dishes. The bar staff were attentive and our waiter in the restaurant was excellent, keeping our wine glasses topped up at all times. We upgraded to the Ocean Villa for 3 nights, absolutely fabulous! Sitting on stilts above the water with a large private sunbathing deck outside of the huge bathroom, the view was breathtaking! We were on the sunset side which was the icing on the cake as the sunsets were spectacular. We dined in the sunset restaurant which had a large deck overlooking the sea, fantastic. The breeze bar where we had breakfast also had a deck where you could dine and watch the fish swimming, very relaxing. Our butler Figo, was very entertaining, ferrying us about in a golf buggy and keeping us informed about what was going on. My husband surfs so he had a great time in the water while I relaxed on a lounger catching the sun. All in all a fantastic and relaxing stay. Whilst I agree that the beach villas may have needed updating, it didn't detract from the holiday and the outdoor shower was fab. Jake, the receptionist was very helpful and knew our names which I thought was a lovely touch. We will definitely return. Xx

Room tip: Upgrade to an Ocean Villa for a few days, awesome! Xx

We went here for a relaxing surf holiday. Jet boat picked us up easily from the airport and after a hour trip we arrived at the island. It is a small island with a mix of ocean villas and on land villas. It's probably not the fanciest island (if you're planning an extravagant honeymoon). It has amazing views and just incredible sights. Floors are sand and paths easy to make your way around island. We checked in which took a while as they are a bit slow. Our room was right on the surf break. My husband could go and check the surf and it also had a bar and restaurant you could have lunch and breakfast buffet and watch the surf at the same time. We upgraded for the last night into the ocean villas! Much cheaper arranging an upgrade when there. Incredible. loved them, outdoor deck, straight to the water for snorkelling, private room for breakfast. You get driven to the main island in a golf buggy! We had an all inclusive package which made the price very reasonable. I've reviewed this in a various parts to cover the whole experience.

housekeeping

- It was slow to arrive when calling (even once when I called to say I was locked in)
- However it was a nice man, good service otherwise, bed turn down in the evening

front of House

- have to pay for wi fi, only in common areas and only one device per code
- maxim (host) was lovely, and a good singer (participated in karaoke) well organised and polite. offered a discount on ocean villa
- all front of house was slow particularly the cashier
- staff can sing!!

rooms

- lohis room. sufficient. Has a comfortable bed, fridge, kettle, safe, hairdryer, cupboard, rack for surfboards, shoe clean bath out front.
- shower and bath. toilet sewerage smells a bit, system probably needs some work.
- large size near surf break
- lohis also serves the all inclusive buffet at breakfast and lunch. aka carte dinner. Can eat and watch surf
- wi fi works there at the lohis cafe but not in rooms

gym
- old, but sufficient. 2 x treadmills, 1 exercise bike, I cross trainer, hand weights, a few weight machines
-Mats
- air con and tv

property
- tennis court, football field, volleyball court, squash court.
2 x pool tables in main area and lohis, table tennis in main area
main Bar has singers each night, karaoke twice a week, a disco on the beach. staff can sing
- great pool with a swim up bar
- fish feeding (or feeding mini sharks) each night at 9pm
- park for children
- a couple of gift shops which were quite expensive.

surf
-lohis is a reef break
-surf guides are good, helpful, take good photos which you can buy
-Richard and wife were great
- waves good for intermediate and above surfers, not beginners
-fun, fast left hander
-can go on boat trip to ninjas, sultans, jailbreaks, cokes and more. $50 a trip

activities
- there's water sports; catamaran, jetski, windsurfing, waterskiing, wake boarding. We did jet ski (50 for ten minutes) but super fun.
- great snorkelling, hire equipment for a day or week
- heaps of tours; dolphin, fishing, male, bbq reef hopping and more. We did fishing which was great, plenty of fish to catch, men on the boat were great and they even took us and found Dolphins. bonus
- organised tours range from 40-125
- Spa is also great for massages and body scrubs. A little expensive but it is an island!

food
- all inclusive buffet everyday that was awesome! always different, salad, curries, fried foods, rice, dessert bar.
- buffet is breakfast, lunch and dinner so you never go hungry! they also have Morning and afternoon snack bars.
- drinks including cocktails are in the package.

Overall a great experience and would love to go back.

Entire resort was absolutely a wonderful experience, gardens were gorgeous & maintained, rooms where clean. All the staff were very helpful & accommodating. We stayed in a beach villa (210), where you walked straight out to sand, crystal blue water and reef snorkel at your front door. We had the food package included & everyday there was something different to choose from at breakfast, lunch & dinner. Hubby had a milestone birthday whilst there - Ananda was fantastic, he suggested taking hubby over to Barefoot Island, 5 minute boat ride where the two of us could celebrate his birthday alone. Ananda was the chef & we had a waiter wait on us - 4 course meal & everything tasted divine, cooked a birthday cake as well. Ananda truly made this evening something that we will never forget. We will be returning.
