We met an elderly friend for lunch and he brought us to the Sea Salt in Beckenham because he loves the cuisine. He is an extremely discerning world traveller and trencherman. Although he is the venerable age of 94 years, he certainly knows his quality food and wine.
The menu was comprehensive and we spent many minutes deciding what to have. The restaurant obviously has a terrific chef because every dish had a delicious fusion of tastes. The presentation was superb and the service was friendly, attentive but not in your face.
The meat and fish dishes were of superb quality; the wine list was excellent and the vegetables were seasonal but perfectly cooked. Many restaurants, either cook them al dente or over cooked (like those christmas brussels sprouts that granny would start cooking in October!)
The ice creams were superb and my Pistachio Ice Cream was delicious and quite unlike any I have tasted elsewhere. They seem to have a good source of supply.
Not cheap nor painfully expensive but certainly good value in every way. I hope we get invited back to this place for lunch.
