We luckily found Groomes after some extensive online research of the area, for somewhere to stay for our wedding night. After weighing up here and some other places, we're really glad that we chose here on such an important night. Whilst dealing with him, we found Pete to be extremely welcoming, and we were continuously impressed by his hospitality, and willingness to go the extra mile. Although there's several examples I could give, some of the ones that stand out, is that when we arrived, Pete stayed up to welcome us even though this was late. He spent time with us, making sure that everything was okay, and couldn't have been more helpful by asking if there was anything we needed.
What's more was that he had prepared two rooms for us, and actually allowed us to choose which we wanted - a touch we really appreciated and made the stay that bit more special.
We chose the Mezz room, which was lovely and were impressed by the look and specification of the room. A nice touch was that there were small LED lights set into the beams which looked great in the dark. The room was very large, and comfortable, and we were especially impressed by the bathroom, which was equally as large, and had a huge bath and a shower.
Outside, the building itself is very nice, and benefits from being set in a lovely location, surrounded by countryside, making it sufficiently idyllic.
In the morning, breakfast was a nice experience, as opposed to other places we have stayed in the past. Pete was helpful in establishing what we wanted to eat the night before, and we were both impressed with the quality of the food, as well as the other things on offer, e.g. yoghurt with fresh fruit, cereals, and coffee.
Overall, we really enjoyed our stay, and our advice to anyone reading the other reviews would be to take them with a pinch of salt. We can only assume that as Groomes is a 5*, they have obviously attracted a lot of 'snobs' who aren't down to Earth enough to recognise great service when they see it! We would definitely stay again!
