This was a surprisingly different quaint shabby sheik stay at a lovely foley near ALton towers
The host was very welcoming and lovely and friendly we will definitely try to come back to stay again when visiting Alton towers .the pub called the TAvern in the next village was also very good rustic tastes food and friendly service we will be back soon

Room Tip: Stay in the foley it's so cute if the door had a fly screen you could sleep with the stable doo...

We stayed here for one night whilst visiting Alton Towers and were very impressed. Once we had found the B+B which took some time we were delighted to be greeted by tea and cake which went down a treat. The room we checked into was the family room on the top floor which was nice and spacious and very comfortable. The bathroom was nice, shower and bath which is always good to have the option. We visited the local pub and the food was delicious. The breakfast the next morning was lovely and there was lots of choice. The only think I would say is that the breakfast was a little cold. But apart from that we had a wonderful stay and would thoroughly recommend Alton Brook House.

Absolutely love this place, I bought a night in the shepherds folly as a gift for my mums wedding night for her. I went to meet Lisa to organise the stay and to view the folly! It really is charming and gorgeous and the staff couldn't do enough for us! very accommodating and helped make the stay perfect for my mum! would recommend to anybody love it so much im thinking of having my wedding there!

Room Tip: defiantly recommend the Shepard's folly but all rooms looked lovey.

Stayed here as a stop over from a day trip to Alton Towers as a family of five. Previously stayed in Stoke on Trent for this purpose - and decided not to make that mistake again. Had a superb suite of two enormous bedrooms and a large bathroom with bath and seperate shower. All impeccable in period style furnishings. Ample quality breakfast. Would probably lose the carpet in the bathroom to avoid the damp smell there, but apart from that highly recommended and excellent value especially if you are a family, however also good for quiet breaks in lovely countryside. Even found a lovely Thai restaurant in Uttoxeter in the Bank Hotel for dinner. Recommended!

Good points:
Warm welcome with tea and cake - nice touch!
Nice countryside setting, peaceful.
Breakfast good.

Not so good:
Room 5 is really not big enough for three people even with exclusive use of lounge.
Breakfast room a little on the cramped side.
Credit card debited using customer not present facility on day 1 - rather unusual practice.

Room Tip: Not room 5 if more than two people.

We were just expecting a regular B&B... Somewhere to sleep and freshen up on a two day visit to Alton Towers. Situated in the open countryside, it's just beautiful. Greeted by a friendly host we were walked around the house to room 6... A beautiful annex to the main house, containing a huge living room with three sided views out to the countryside... Just for us... And a huge bedroom upstairs with an amazingly comfortable huge bed. Absolutely beautiful. Breakfast served on the patio in he sunshine or in your own living room otherwise. Definitely go back again if we can stay in room 6!

Room Tip: Try to get room 6!

We booked this b&b as our preferred choice in the area was fully booked. We have tried most of the bed and breakfasts in the local area and this was our worst stay to date. It was quite difficult to find and when you arrived it was difficult to tell that you were actually at a bed and breakfast. On arrival we were ignored by the owner for almost five minutes whilst he discussed exterior paint jobs that needed doing with a colleague, despite standing right next to him. We were checked in quickly without any smiles or niceties and given our key and shown to our room. The room was large and reasonably clean although a deep clean was needed and there were stains all over the carpet. The bathroom was incredibly small and resembled an "under the stairs cupboard". We were offered tea on the terrace that we declined but we did see other guests enjoying tea, coffee and cake that was a nice touch.
Neither of the managers seemed to have any local knowledge and did not even know the directions to a local pub in the next village although they did give us the local flyer of the pub. Unfortunately the pub owners had not included address or phone number of the pub on the flyer!!
We slept reasonably well and the bed was comfortable with clean linen.
When we checked in we asked if an early breakfast was possible at 7.15am. This did not seem to be a problem but as we were on a tight time schedule we asked if they would like to know our order in advance to speed things up. The response was staggering " you get what you are given"! It was not possible to alter anything whether you wanted it or not. In the morning a full English arrived, to be fair in copious amounts, but of poor quality. The pastries, pancakes and toast were poor. Service again was limited and abrupt.
Our bill was slipped under our door despite being in the room and our credit card had been debited using the customer not present facility. We felt that in comparison to other local b&b's it was overpriced and the worst service we have received in this area. We will not be returning and would not recommend a stay.
