“Lovely apartment, wonderful views”

We have just returned from 12 days here and really loved having our first cup of tea in bed in the morning looking at the view across the fjord. Watching the sun trickle across the villages on the other side of the bay was a great start to the day!

The apartment is very comfortably furnished and we catered for ourselves on a few nights and ate on the balcony in the fading sunset.

It a really good base to explore from, we went on an organised trip for a day white water rafting in the Tara canyon, which was awesome. We had a car so we also made a couple of other trips into the mountains ourselves and visited Skadar lake, which is serene, tranquil and beautiful. The Mausoleum of Njegoš in Lovćen National Park is also well worth a visit, stunning views.

The pool is lovely to swim in, really warm and well maintained.

Mike (the owner) made the booking process really easy and smooth and provided lots of great information and clear directions on how to get there, making the process for an independent traveller very easy.

“Excellent value for money. Possibly unbeatable”

We managed to put together a week staying here, flights into Dubrovnik and a car for the duration for well under £1000 which, for what you get, would be difficult to beat. The existing photos attached to this page more or less give you the visuals. The elevated position overlooking the fjord gives spectacular views, the apartment is clean, to a very good specification, modern and (since the property is now 5 years old) I assume quite regularly renovated, and everything works the way it should. The customer service and comms from the owner (Mike) and the local property management company (Remote Control) is excellent. The apartment puts you in the best spot that Montenegro has to offer. We took a few drives throughout our stay and, whilst it's good to see other parts of the country, it only makes you realise how good your home base is. There are mini-marts and bakeries close by, where you can gather your groceries and your drinks for your evenings on the balcony. Montenegro is cheaper for eating and drinking than neighbouring Croatia by quite some margin. A good bottle of Vranac at the mini mart is about 3 Euros, and you can get an excellent meal for 2 nearby for less than 40 Euros (go to Ellas).

The only negative point (and I think it will be very temporary) was the construction work ongoing at 2 nearby properties. If you're the type of person that gets bothered by that sort of thing, you might need to check the status of any work before you book. That said, given the progress being made at the time of our visit I would assume both of these properties would be finished by the start July 13. Putting it in context, I'm talking about teams of 4 or 5 working with light hand tooling - nothing industrial. For us it was quite tolerable. The apartment has no TV or wifi so come prepared with some stuff to occupy yourself for short periods as sometimes you have to wait in an hour or so while a shower clears the fjord.

The best way to pick up your emails is to go to a bar or restaurant with wifi (most do) and have a beer or a coffee. There is no 3G anywhere in Montenegro so far as I can tell, but phone signals are always good.

Being in an elevated position and on the 2nd floor (steps leading up to it) it's not suitable for people with mobility issues unfortunately.

“Incredible views - great apartment”
Reviewed 7 October 2012 for a stay in October 2012

Great property with the most incredible views over the bay. Well equipped kitchen and everything you need in an apartment. Good location, just outside the busiest part of town in Kotor which was more relaxing than being in town but still close to restaurants. We had a rental car and it was really easy to get to places to go walking in the mountains, diving and sight-seeing. Organising the stay was beforehand was straightforward and we were made to feel very welcome on arrival. We would defintely go back!
