This hotel is right next to Realm Hotel in Barton near the parliamentary triangle. I recommend it because it is good value for money - when I stayed it was almost half the cost of most of the other good hotels in Canberra (Realm, Hyatt). The Realm precinct has several restaurants and cafés nearby. It's brand new and feels fresh and modern.

The Burbury Hotel is a hotel that targets the business traveller rather than your typical "tourist" hotel. It is newish and as you would expect because of this clean and fresh. However, I found it to be a bit sterile.

I arrived around 3.30pm and my room wasn't ready. I was not impressed by this and only after I stood my ground at reception did a room become available. Breakfast is served on the top floor is good if included in your room package but if you have to pay it is not worth $35.

The location is in the parliamentary triangle and is around 10 mins from the CBD and 20-25 mins from the airport.

I have stayed in The Realm and Burbury which are in the same complex and IMHO The Realm is better.

Our family of three stayed at this lovely hotel in Canberra recently. We found it to be supremely comfortable and convenient, in that we were able to walk with our young daughter to the excellent Ottoman restaurant nearby. Breakfast was included in our rate, and was served in the 7th floor dining room that had lovely views to Parliament House, towards the American monument, and Black Hill. Great self service coffee was available at the breakfast, as was the usual array of continental breakfast selections and hot food items. Manuka was a few minutes drive, and central Canberra was a short drive of approximately 10 minutes. We would stay here again.

Stayed here for one night during Floriade and enjoyed our stay.

The fitout is clean and modern in design and very comfortable. The best part about it was even though its a small hotel, you got the amenities of a much larger one through ability to use the complex (where there was a full service gym and day spa).

Some little hiccups were encountered however these were generally rectified asap.

In a quiet area, but some great restaurants (see my review for Malamay). All in all a great stay.

I've spent many nights in similarly star-rated hotels and this one is very good. Room is modern (but make sure you point the remote at the Apple unit and not the TV!) and clean. Breakfast on Level 7 is of a high quality and relaxing. Location is fine since most will have a car and its only a few minutes to the city centre. Neighbourhood is quiet but safe and clean. Happy to return when I'm next in Canberra.

I reckon Burbury hotel is a hotel where you have to move every where to do things. You got to cross the street in order to swim and it is also very small. The only reason we picked it was because of the pool but the hotel is just average. I do not think it is suited as a 4.5 star hotel

Hi Oscar,

Thank you for your personal review of the Burbury Hotel.

The Burbury Hotel is AAA rated as a 4.5 Star hotel, it is not self rated.

The lane way which divides the Hotel Realm and the Burbury Hotel is a 20-30 second walk, I do apologise if this was not clearly stated upon booking.

Regards.

I found the Burbury very cold. It did not feel like a nice welcome place. The room was clean, the service was adequate, but it did not feel like a welcome environment. Our room had no comfortable chairs, or even art. The bathroom was not a good design. You're paying for the bed and that's all.
