We have decided to visit Canberra for the long weekend in June. We have stayed two nights at the Hyatt. When going to Canberra, we are usually either going to the Hyatt or the Crowne Plaza.

The good:
- been welcomed as a returning customer
- the experience (back in time)
- size of the room and the bathroom
- attention to details (bath crystal for the bath)
- Ipod/iphone stereo
- comfy bed and pleasant sleep
- having a drink at the bar
- walking distance to the galleries and Parliament
- free parking
- Ipass compatible internet

The not so good
- TV a bit small (but not in the hotel for watching TV)
- @the bar, wine list by the glass could focus more on Canberra region wines
- restaurant doesn't look exciting (not a chef restaurant)

We had good times, so we will be back

i have stayed at this hotel many times and recently visited after a gap of some months. I had regularly commented that this hotel did not perform well on recognising frequent visitors. On this last visit, i was welcomed by everyone from the doorman and the reception staff as a returning guest. A small thing, but i really appreciated it, so well done!

One must experience the Hyatt's Sunday afternoon high tea. A little bit pricey but worth every cent. The atomsphere/ambience/staff are all top notch and the food both hot and cold dishes are 'out of this world'. To me this is a typical English tea, mixiing with all sorts of people, young and old, guys and girls celebrating an occasion or just out to show off their lovely outfits.. In the background is a pianist playing, in winter roaring fires. You must book though (well in advance, if possible) as this is an extremely popular social outing,.

I'm no stranger staying at a Hyatt property, however there was a few things that where off putting first of all checking at the front office. I was greeted by one of the front office staff, there was differently some attitude, very not welcoming at all. Not knowing what package I had booked, some judgement on her end. However the porters and the concierge staff are very friendly and helpful.
Rooms are big and modern, club lounge has a descent selection of food and beverage with helpful staff.
I was very disappointed with room service menu, the steak was very average for the price. I have never been a big fan of hotel breakfast buffets, this once seems to be average.Overall not a bad place to stay.

We stayed here in January as we had stayed here for a few days 4 years ago, Staff are very attentive I will give you an example, the day we stayed was very hot I mean really hot and it was so nice to take refuge in our air coditioned room, about five minutes after we checked in we received a knock on our door, a staff member was there offering us botted water, how good was that!! Breakfast was great I ate a bit too much!!!
Wish we could of stayed there for a few more days.

My daughter booked me in to this hotel and we had the pleasure of their high tea experience. I've had several of these teas but the Hyatt Canberra is by far the best. The food is all high teas-exceptional- but this one goes that bit further. The staff actually look relaxed yet highly professional and very friendly. For a real "girl" experience.. go try this special treat!

The Hyatt in Canberra is a located in a premium position close to all the Capitals landmarks, built in the 1920's to house members of parliament it has lots none of its charm and retains that art deco feel in a modern way. The service is intermittent wavering between excellent to average with the check in process quite annoying and slow. The room are large and well maintained and the black marble bathroom with the huge bath very luxurious. Breakfast buffet was on the high side with only one buffet option at 39$ or a la carte. The grounds are lovely and one feels like you are in an exclusive club yet still within easy reach of the sites of Canberra, however you will need a car as walking anywhere takes time as Canberra is quite spread out. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who visits Canberra but check your rates as the can vary as much as 100$ a night depending on who you use to book.
