The special exhibition of Renaissance art from Bergamo was excellent, as was the guided tour.

“Always interesting”
Reviewed 24 March 2012

A credit to Australia, the National Gallery always has great travelling exhibitions presented in a "user-friendly" environment. And I always find something I "need" in the gift shop.

“even better after recent major extensions”
Reviewed 24 March 2012

have been going here for over 20 years [ - from time to time some "blockbuster" exhibitions of "foreign art" - but core collection is to showcase leading examples of types of art from around the world and obviously Australian art - thanks to benefaction of some very generous people, exhibition areas have recently been greatly expanded - also not easy to find if you don't know about them, between the Gallery and Lake Burley Griffin is a large area displaying sculptures and through a mini forest that sprays you with mist as you walk through it [the mist itself an art installation] is a delightful restaurant next to a pond - also adjacent are the High Court/National Portrait Gallery/National Library/Science Museaum and Old Parliament house - all worth a visit, so you can easily spend a day in the area

“Another must see”
Reviewed 21 March 2012

I went principally for the Renaissance Exhibition but was gobsmacked by the NGA's collection. Monet, Manet, Matisse, Warhol, Picasso, etc. etc. Outstanding was the Nolan Ned Kelly Collection. Finally saw the Blue Poles.
