This war memorial is really touching, it allows you to keep alive this feeling that marked Australians and defined them as the current nation they are. Don't miss the closing ceremony everyday!

“war memorial”
Reviewed 5 August 2014

The art deco architecture is severe and impressive, the dioramas and displays moving and informative. Worth a long and reflective visit. My only regret is the silence on the wars the long established inhabitants fought against the English invaders, and the massacres that occurred for decades therafter. The reason given at the Memeorial is that only foreign wars are commemorated . But Darwin, ie the Japanese bombing of that town, is not ignored; foreign aggression on this continent is recognised. Hence any foreign aggression needs to be acknowledge, as no reconciliation with the invaded is worth anything without due respect to these people having been paid.

“Moving”
Reviewed 5 August 2014

A really moving site of incredible significance for many Australians. As a British national living in Australia, I am always deeply moved by the respect and admiration given to the Australian war veterans and soldiers who gave their lives. The War Memorial is a fitting tribute and memorial to the revered soldiers who have fought for Australia and gives great insight into why Australia holds dear, those who gave their lives for their country.

“Worth a visit”
Reviewed 5 August 2014

The displays have changed and become more interactive now and not boring. Easily spent 2 hours there and did not see all of it. Should make several trips next time.
Carry water with you for breaks.
