Stayed there for four days in end April. Nice room, central location. Good breakfast buffet. Quite happy with everything. After the ongoing renovations everything will be better. May be they can add few more vegan or vegetarian dishes to the room service menu.

All the things you need in a nice, clean and comfortable room. Without the frills.

Nice staff and an easy walk from everything you need in Canberra City. Restaurants, bars and tourist attractions all nearby.

We've stayed here a number of times for conferences and on the way to the snow. Very reasonable rates with breakfast included and free parking. I think the furniture is the original stuff, but the beds are clean and comfortable. Staff are very helpful and friendly. You pay for what you get, so lap it up, when the refurbs are completed I'm sure the tariff will be increased. If you get a room close to Northbourne Avenue you will get traffic noise.

Room Tip: Ask for a room towards the back of the property

Clean and comfortable. This is a great stopover place.
The location is on the road easy to find. A bit noisy on the road side. Ask for a room away from the road. The staff were very helpful and ready ro please. Lovely atrium in the central area. You could stay a couple of days if you have the right room.

Best described as an x four star.

Rex Hotel staff are a four star crew. From reception, housekeeping to the breakfast room – all can-do and ready to assist. I work in a customer facing industry and appreciate how hard it is to get this right all the time. This aspect of Rex Hotel service deserves recognition.

The breakfast buffet is generous and varied and with this breakfast thrown in, overall it’s a hard to beat budget option - king single room at just over $200 for two nights. Rex also has great coffee at breakfast; strong, fresh and hot coffee - all too rare in hotels.
I was prepared for some disappointment given the negative reviews (are travellers wanting 4 star at 2-3 star prices?). Rex is a solid budget option and I was not able to beat the price... it’s not 4-star, but it doesn’t profess to be.

For me the important things are there: comfy bed and pillows, arm chair by a window that opens, suitcase stand, easy to operate remotes for TV and heating/cooling, lamps for atmosphere, bath for a soak, city centre a 15 min walk or a 5 min bus ride, bonus view of green hills across the road from my window on the top floor (level 4).

Yes, I did hear the tantrum-throwing ankle biters in the next room through the walls, but it didn’t bother me. The hotel corridors border are gloomy but it’s a corridor right? So no issue there for me and Rex is renovating. Value for money.

Room Tip: Level 4 rm 412 king single room has a view of green hills across the road.
