“Excellent new restaurant in Manuka”
Reviewed 19 June 2014

Camellia is a welcome new addition to the Manuka scene, with delicious food and genuine, friendly service. In Canberra you can pay almost any price for any quality of food - it can be very hit and miss. Camellia is well-priced and the food is great: tasty, fresh and good portion sizes! Sri Lankan cuisine is a bit of a newcomer to Canberra, but I like it more than Indian because it has less oil and spice, and more delicate flavours. The service at Camellia is also a nice change from some of the 'snobbier' Manuka eateries. The chef came out and greeted us, we were offered free rice on the house when the server noticed my friend eating the dal right out of the bowl (well, it was delicious), and we got a free welcome drink! Try the string hoppers and the wandu for dessert. Yum! I'll be back.

“A new jewel discovered”
Reviewed 7 June 2014

Well by that I mean a new jewel for us... I believe it has been open since last year but this was our first visit. We just wanted a weekend lunch and Sri Lankan sounded fine. When we arrived around 12:00 we were the only customers although not long afterwards a large family group arrived, so we got in before the rush.

We were made to feel welcome by the waiter and the chef who came out to greet us. When we ordered he made some suggestions that were quite welcome and made the meal more interesting.

There were complimentary starters of a small fish piece in a spicy sauce. Then we had the Kottu Roti with beef and the String Hoppers with chicken. Each came with several accompaniments. This turned out to be a large lunch! We each had a glass of good wine and the total bill was less than $70.

The food was excellent, the restaurant decor is excellent and the service was very, very, good. I will definitely be going back there!

“A nice modern twist”
Reviewed 28 May 2014

We really enjoyed our meals at Camelia, which have a mix of modern and traditional offerings. Very good service as well, which was greatly appreciated.

“Karma camellia”
Reviewed 24 May 2014 via mobile

My new favorite canberra restaurant. Food is beautifully presented and delicious and subtley spiced. Beautiful service and simple but chic ambience. After the meal the chaming chef came to talk individually to all the diners and gave us a complimentary snifter of cocanut firewater. This isnt haute cuisine but sri lankan soul food cooked with passion and attention to detail. Love.

“Great food and Great service”
Reviewed 2 May 2014 via mobile

We went with our 2 children - 5 & 8 and expected to get takeaway but the service was so friendly and sincere that we managed to eat in and fully enjoy the most delicious and enjoyable meal we've had in years.
Many thanks for the experience.
