“The last of the mounted ANZAC’s”
Reviewed 19 June 2011

This memorial was initially built after all the ANZACS in Egypt and Palestine donated a days pay in 1917 towards it’s construction. It portrays the mateship that goes hand in hand with ANZAC’s, and portrays mounted Diggers in action. The memorial specifically remembers the ANZAC’s who served in Egypt, Palestine and Syria. This is the 3rd memorial of its kind, with the original in Egypt and another in Albany, Western Australia.
Anzac Parade, leading up to the Australian War Memorial, is lined with several Memorials to unique aspects of Australian War history. A walk along the Parade is a fitting way to show respects and to share a thought for those who gave so much for our safety and out way of life. While each memorial is small, the events and people they represent are immense. Highly recommended.
