“Actual Thai”
Reviewed 13 November 2013

Firstly, I am blown away by how little reviews are made of this place. This is a take-away hotspot and also a hotspot for government workers in the Belconnen district. if you are living as far away as Tuggernong, I would recommend you fill your tank and drive 25km for the best Pad-Thai in Canberra.

The owner is very warm and welcoming. The first few times I made an appearance to pick up take-away she was confused as to how I found out about the place. It's typically a word-of-mouth type of restaurant and thrives of it's authenticity.

I hope the word of the business continues to spread.

Other great dishes are; Crispy Thai Chicken, Soi Dtum(Papaya Salad), Tom Yum soups and all of the entrees.

“Great Thai food”
Reviewed 6 July 2013

This is a real hidden gem in an office block in Belconnen - a very hole in the wall of an office block kind of place. You come here for the food as the setting is really basic. The service is friendly and personal - it's a family run affair where the door is closed promptly at closing time, which is rather early, even for Canberra standards. The special Thai chicken is excellent - all choices are very local style food that you'd get in Thailand.

Great little hole in the wall-esk eatery. I absolutely love the food here and find it hard to resist their chicken Pad Thai - mmmm

“Authentic Thai food - home away from home”
Reviewed 19 September 2012

I cannot get enough of pad thai with prawns from Thip's Thai. Not only it's the best in Canberra, I can safely say that it's one of best in Thailand. Lunch time is always a mad house with a long line for ready-made hot meals, come early to avoid the queue, or book a table and pre-order a la carte around 11 am. If you have a big group, it's probably better to come in the evening. Thip's Thai is the closest to the authentic Thai street food experience you can get. It's not a fancy place to take your date to but if you want real Thai food how it's done in Thailand, this is the place.

“Think Thai Street food; great food, lovely service, but very, very basic setting.”
Reviewed 15 August 2012

Thip's is a winner because the food is so great. Service is quick and friendly. But the setting is like a takeaway. BYO is cheap but only open Monday to Friday and no credit card facilities. Park in Myer carpark and walk over the foot bridge to the churches centre. Great pics were the
Pad Thai,  Hor Mok steamed seafood and vegetable in special curry paste, Thai style fried chicken in special sauce, banana wrapped in sticky rice and icecream
