Their food is fresh and full of flavour. A good place for a short lunch or a leisurely meal with good company.

These are both really good restaurants - great food, well presented with efficient service. Can get busy so best to make a booking. The Tuggeranong one - has one of the best home made carrot cakes in town - have that with a nice hot mocha - superb! Always good to have a restaurant that doesn't care if you just want to go for a coffee and cake! Always a favourite - either Tuggeranong or Woden. And they both have comfortable outside eating ares with heaters!

I recently had lunch with my mother in the Civic restaurant on the corner of Barry Drive and Moore Street. We stuffed ourselves stupid on the delicious banquet for two, as I’ve done many times in the past, and will do many more times in the future.

You really can’t go past the banquets, and after a few pricey stand-alone mains in the past, you really shouldn’t. The banquet kicks off with a big basket of warm Turkish bread and selection of tasty dips that are a meal in themselves for twice as many as you order for. It’s actually hard to save room for the rest of the food. It’s so good.

The chicken kebabs, shaved lamb and minced beef are all well cooked and incredibly flavoursome, particularly the lamb. The salad’s salad, but a very nice accompaniment, and I could eat the rice on its own.

We’re usually too rammed solid to even notice the pide arrive at the table, and we invariably end up taking it home in a doggy bag for dinner. Even on the reheat, it stands up well.

The value is great, especially when you consider how much food they serve up. The banquet cost us $20 a head for all the above and more, and $3 each for a coffee and a soft drink. The only shame is the amount of food you have to send back because you just can’t cram it in.

The atmosphere is nice enough, very fresh and clean, without being particularly Turkish. It’s often not very busy, but that does little to detract from the ambiance. Truth be told, you’re too occupied shovelling it in to really notice. And the service too is great, with our waiter doing his friendly best to do whatever he could for us, including blocking out an annoying reflection of the sun with a malfunctioning blind.

If you’re Southside, you have to go to the Turkish Grill in Erindale, but for a hell of a feast in the city, you can’t go past the Turkish Pide House.

I went for a work dinner and ordered entrees, a couple of different banquets as well as a seperate main for a colleague. The place was half empty but service was slow. We had to repeately ask for the menu and waited 10 minutes for the drinks to come.
All the food came out except the seperate main. When we asked the waiter, he made up that he put down the man as being part of the banquet which was clearly untrue since they didn't provide the right number of servings.
The food was good as well as value for money but the overall experience was average.
