“Fabulous views, wonderful wine and glorious meals”
Reviewed 25 January 2014

Spent 2 days on a recent visit to Australia in Hunter Valley. For anyone who loves mountains, trees, flowers and birds, this is a lovely area. Then add in the wine! And some first class restaurants, too. It is really worth a visit. We stayed in Goosewing Cottage which was delightful. And in the evenings, a few kangaroos joined us as we sat on the verandah admiring the view.

“Hunter Valley wine tours”
Reviewed 17 January 2014

We toured the Hunter with Red Carpet Luxury tours earlier this week. We really enjoyed the small group atmosphere rather than a large tour bus. We got to know our 15 or so new friends as the day progressed which made the tour even more fun. My wife is still talking about petting the baby kangaroos which was a quick stop on the way to the Hunter.

Our guide Scott was extremely knowledgable about the region and the history of Australia as well. He gave us very detailed, interesting information when we needed it while never trying to sell or push anything on us. Just a real nice relaxed vibe. We toured smaller boutique wineries which was great. I highly recommend this company! I would ask for Scott as well.

“Hunter Valley”
Reviewed 28 December 2013

Wine country, we stayed at a time share, with a very nice golf course. Located about 2 hours north of Sydney. If you have been to Napa Valley California, this is somewhat like it. The big difference we noticed is all the kangaroos running around. On the golf course, in between the grapes and in the fields. Saw some dead ones in the ditch, hit by cars, trucks etc. We thought the homes of the grape growers were not as nice as the homes in Napa Valley. They gave nice samples for tasting free, and if you bought some, you would get bigger samples. Toured 2 places that made beer and, you had to pay for the samples One pastry shop was near by, well know and very good but pricey. Was surprised to see no Koala bears in this area. Only at a zoo near by which we enjoyed.

“Hunter Wine Helicopters - Indulge the senses package”
Reviewed 4 October 2013

This package is a good concept but it needs the "wow" factor and this was lacking on our tour. The helicopter ride was spectacular but it took off 30 minutes late, this reduced the massage from 1 hour to 30 minutes because of other bookings. The food at lunch was good but the atmosphere was "very average" a bistro type setting, more resort style rather than fine dining. With Peppers Resort unavailable we accepted a transfer to Crowne Plaza Hunter Valley, this in hindsight was a mistake. Whilst the helicopter company did it's best, insisting on going to Peppers on a different date, possibly on a weekend rather than a week day and a "later in the afternoon" lunch package may have improved the experience.

“Opera,wine and majestic views”
Reviewed 18 August 2013

With some 90 wineries in the area, what are you waiting for?
To supplement your vineyard visits, why not book an early morning balloon ride as the sun strikes gold over the terrain. Golf enthusiasts are well catered for, as well as, horse riders.
Its 160 km from Sydney about a two hours drive. I suggest going on a tour ,which will absolve you of drink and drive issues.
The first spot, is Pepper's Convent a restored1909 convent with its elegant guest house, vineyard and eatery. Now follow this by visiting The Golden Grape Estate,a popular vinery with a gallery showing grape varieties found around the world. There is a museum which features early wine-making equipment.
Of note is Rothbury Estate of Len Evens fame,Lindermans,Brockenwood and Hope Estate. Consider staying for two days as there is so much to do and see.
Visitor information is at Pokolbin and romance abounds is this most beautiful region.
