The Tahitian
Ranked #17 of 40 Hotels in Coffs Harbour

Very plain, converted 70's retro-unit brick block; cleanliness, average. The little extra's in the kitchen - enough garbage bags, washing up liquid, cloths etc - are well thought out, although the cleaning up rules are a bit stringent as is the coin operated – you pay - laundry. Some nice thoughtful touches like little jam biscuits and the general ambiance of calm and cleanliness is superb; the shower lovely.

The grounds and gardens are gorgeous and the BBQ and pool area really giving a truly homely feeling for people to spend time (like family). The Tahitian is in a lovely quiet location far from the highway, albeit not in comfortable walking distance to much more than the beach. You will need a car to get about.

Foxtel movies are free and we really enjoyed the lovely hot spa on a rainy evening.

The owners are friendly and reception is open longer than other places giving a flexible check-in time.

There is no lift or disabled access, only a flight of narrow stairs to the rooms. The beds - although clean - left my nose blocked in the morning. Perhaps the doona’s and pillows should be put in the sun on the balcony every now and then for natural disinfecting; the mattresses aired, vacuumed and freebreezed? The mattresses are comfortable enough, although the single bed in room 23 (under the window) has a huge dip in it, like a giant has slept in it.

Take your own soap, because there isn't nearly enough guest soap and new towels are not given daily, nor the rooms made up. Shampoo and conditioner are in one. However, the apartment is a decent size for what you pay and well appointed. This is not a luxurious place, but certainly one to consider when travelling on a budget, although we have paid similar and stayed in much better elsewhere, that is the fault of Coffs Harbour, more than the Tahitian itself; which is well priced and good quality in comparison to its peers.

Stayed on long road trip as stop over. They rang me enroute to ask about our arrival time as they apparently close reception at 7pm but they said they'd wait the hour for us. I saw someone else check in after us so I guess it wasn't just us they had to wait on.

Beds comfy, clean, lighting in living area awful and one wall lamp in twin room had a gap around socket that little fingers could easily fit into.

Would have been nice to avail of sauna but it was closed the 13 hours we were there.

The pool was a revelation in the morning though so lovely with a warm hot tub. There were some playground things too - slide/climbing frame. Dog poo on grass so dunno if that was other customer or what.

Fine for a stop over. (Note check out 9:30am).

The tahitian is well located, opposite a nice beach in coffs harbour, but you are paying for the location, not the quality of the accommodation. The owners/staff were friendly enough. Our room was on the third storey up a dark, dingy stairwell. The room was average. A tiny balcony (not worth using), a small but suitably equipped kitchenette, a basic tiny, dark little bathroom, an ok bedroom but uncomfortable cheap mattress and an ok lounge with couch & tv. The cleanliness was a bit average. There was some sand and dirt on the floor and couch. It would be suitable accommodation for a working/trades person needing to stay for work in town a while (though not walking distance to thetown at all) or maybe a couple (with lower standards than us), wanting to stay by the beach. We have stayed in much nicer places for much less. This is more like an apartment block that they have decided to make extra money from. Dont be fooled by the name. It is not exotic or resort like in any shape or form.

We stayed at the Tahitian for 10 days at the beginning of February while visiting our family in Coffs Harbour. We stayed in apartment 9 which was a two bedroom overlooking the pool. The apartment was well equipped with everything you would ever need and was spotlessly clean. Each apartment has it's own allocated parking space under cover which was good.

The pool area was lovely and the hot spa was really hot. We didn't use the outdoor barbecue facilities but those who did seemed to be enjoying them. I must also comment on the gardens which were beautiful. There are shower and toilet facilities too by the pool.

The setting is great just across the road from the beach and there is a café and minimart next door at the BP garage. We had a car and you could get anywhere in Coffs in just a few minutes and the main shopping area at Park Beach Plaza was a couple of minutes in the car.

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the Tahitian to anyone and we hope to stay again next year. Big thanks to Ric & Marilyn the managers and their lovely dogs - don't retire before we come back!

Apologies for the very late review, we have just decided to review all of the places we have been to so far together. Our judgement of this place is based on it being a stopover location rather than comparing it against a higher rating resort type hotel. We stayed here a few nights so we could be close to pet porpoise pool and was a stopover on the way to Mullumbimby, great location; apartment is decent size and for what you pay it's more than enough. The pool was a good bonus as the place was right across from the beach. Close to shops and places to eat we would stay here again if traveling through the area. Onsite there were no restaurants but there was a great breakfast place down the road called Café Aqua, amazing food and smoothies!

The 2-bedroom apartment we stayed in was very tastefully furnished and well equipped, and we had free wi-fi internet. We used the BBQ facilities and it was excellent. Location is great if you have your own vehicle and the service was friendly. We would recommend this property.

We had booked an apartment with a double balcony and over looking the pool, only to find when we arrived that this description was wrong.....however we paid the extra $80 to up grade to what we wanted, thankfully one was available, if not we would not have stayed here....We were originlly given a room overlooking the main road at the front, we declined this...so thank you to the lady on reception for being so helpful, even though we had to pay more...
We had a big double roomed apartment overlooking the pool and the mountain in the background.....This apartment more them met our needs, with a fully equiped kitchen, including a full sized cooker and large fridge and dish washer....the bathroom again had good facilities including a hair dryer...The main bedroom had a queen sized bed and Tv.....the 2 bedroom had two single beds in, but we used this for luggage and clothes....nice to have the space...There is a good sized clean swimming pool with hot pool and a good area attached for barbecuing....Ideal for families....across the road and you are straight onto the beach....Round the back there was a guest laundry and an area to hang clothes out

Room Tip: Go for a two bedroom apartment, more space
