“Excellent!”
Reviewed 12 April 2014

I was able to visit Coffs Harbour again recently and was able to stay at the Hoey Moey again - nothing has changed since my last visit. The bar, however, has changed! Food is still top notch and fresh - made to order. Will be back to stay again!

Room Tip: Rooms are airy and light

This is a great place for a drink and to have a cheap meal.
Every night they have a $9.50 special.
The food is good "pub grub", and serves are ample.
Service is good.
There're the usual things that go with a pub Like T.V's, horse racing, football etc. a great meeting place and backpackers abound, along with an older clientele.
Plenty of parking close by.
It certainly has atmosphere but it's loud.

would def. recommend it. for backpackers but also for couples (younger ones; 30s)
the beach is just right next to it, there are eating facilities (they have special deals each day), nice staff (ask for Matt; he´s doing tours).

I have to say that I found a cockroach in the bathroom. I know it´s sometimes difficult to avoid when having this climate, but it´s still gross to see.
They offer a free shuttle service to the bus coach, but only during 11 - 17:00 (we didn´t know that so we had to take a taxi :-/ )

The location was not bad, but we only wanted a room for the 2 of us, myself and my wife. But we had to share with a lot of small cockroaches. The room was ok, but not very clean either linen and bedspreads where stained and I still feel. Better the make it into 100% backpackers.

Just cracking! Beautiful spot for and easy afternoon drinking session. Wish we could have stayed longer. We will definitely plan our next trip to Coffs Harbour around who's playing at the Hoey Moey so we can watch this little firecracker go off!

Stayed here for 2 nights. Firstly the good things. Hoey Moey staff were all very friendly and great to talk to about all sorts of thing, bus pickup was good and drop off too, leaving in plenty of time so I wouldn't miss the bus. $9.50 meals every lunch time and evening were nice. Live music on both nights that I stayed and also on the Sunday afternoon. Some top acts come through to Hoey Moeys so if you like live music, it's great. Only a 20 second walk to the beach. Now the not so good things. The dorm room that I stayed in was pretty small. 2 sets of bunks and a single bed. Would have been better without the single. Shower room was pretty small too but OK. This hostel caters for workers, and you can tell. Lots of people outside the rooms coming back from work, so pretty noisy outside, and also if you are not into the live music, stay away, you can here it everywhere and it is very loud. Shops are about 15 minute walk away, and town centre is a longer walk than that. No aircon in rooms only a small fan which doesn't do much. Had a look in the kitchen, but didn't use it. It looked pretty backs, and did have a bit of a smell to it.

To sum up, if they took one bed out of the rooms they wouldn't be too bad, but maybe trying to get that extra $30 per night is too much. Don't expect to go to sleep if there is live music playing, but if you want a decent cheap feed, the meals are good.

This hostel is absolutely amazing! Stayed for over a month. The staff a mix of locals and backpackers alike and go above and beyond to make your stay that much better. We were able to find work on arrival which is great for a backpacker, and frank will help you find something that will fit your needs. The wifi can be a bit dodgy every now and again, but it is free. They have nightly games and activities that are free like jetti jumps on sundays and pool competitions all to win free meals or bottle shop vouchers and so much more. The hostel has a really great mix of long stay backpackers and short stays so there is always something going on. Ohh and you cant forget the beach that is 30 steps behind you! Or the bond fires you have once its dark with the waves crashing behind you! I will most definitely come back if I am lucky enough to venture through Coffs Harbour again!

Room Tip: The backpackers side is great! Keeping in mind its a hostel not the Ritz Carlton. The rooms are stil...
