“Good value family stopover”
Reviewed 11 July 2013 via mobile

We stayed here for a stopover in July school holidays and had a lovely clean room with ample room for our two young children. Owners were very obliging in our late arrival and we would have no hesitation in recommending this place, you only need the basics when stopping to sleep but this place had the microwave too (great option to have a cheaper dinner from the supermarket).

What more can you ask for? Bargain price, free parking, clean rooms, and all the minimum things you need in a room -- comfortable beds, a microwave, kettle, bathroom with plenty of soap satchets, a fridge and a TV. Highly recommended for either a stop over on a long road trip down the east coast, or a longer stay to explore Coffs. Would return here if we visited again.

We stayed overnight enroute from the Gold Coast to Sydney. The Royal Palms is an older motor inn but we found our room well presented, comfortable and very good value. The motel is away from the main road traffic and relatively close to eateries. The managers were friendly and helpful. If you have heavy luggage it is worthwhile booking a downstairs room for easier access. We will certainly consider this motel next time we are passing through Coffs Harbour. Russell & Jane Sydney.

The rooms are a bit dated but they were clean and well equipped. Stayed here for 2 nights during a road trip down the QLD/NSW coast. Made good use of the free laundry facilities and wifi. I can recommend the walks to the top of Muttonbird Island and over the headland to Diggers Beach (but be careful as the currents can be strong here). Park Beach is a short stroll away and a pleasant spot to swim.

We normally stay at another motel in coffs but it was full due to the school holidays. Decided to try this one and i must say im glad i did, the help that Sue gave on the phone prior too arrival and at checking was of a high standard and most welcomming after driving from Sydney.
We need a disabled room unfortunately, this motel has 1 well appointed internaly for a chair big area and easy to manovre around. The only problem that I found was with the parking, if you park near the room you get locked in by the cars next to you, they are to small in area, and its hard to manover to get the chair on the roof. This problem could easily be fixed by making the little area on the right a couple of disabled parking spaces, then there would be no need to park near the room, unpack and then park the car in that order.
All in all for our first nights experience, we would stay here again but request the owners to investigate that disabled parking.

Room Tip: elderly people request a downstairs room if possible

Overnight stay as lay over on extended journey. We make this trip half a dozen times a year and have always stayed at the cheaper Hwy motels which we found adequate for our needs. This time the teenagers wanted to have a separate room and we obliged based purely on the fact that the room description for the 2 bedroom family unit states that there is Austar in all rooms. Please note that this wasn't a general Motel description but a detailed description of our unit. IE: 2 room Family Suite, fully airconditioned, Austar in all rooms. rates on this room are for 4 people. Not only was there NOT Austar but there also was NO television in the other room! We paid an extra $30 to have 2 rooms with televisions and it was not to be. But I have to say the worst thing in this place was retrieving the spare pillow from the dusty linen cupboard to discover it gad a big splodge of green dried nasal discharge on it....discusting! The room was incredibly noisy, we could hear the people in an adjacent room late at night. The rooms were also quite hot and we stayed in a cooler time of year but the aircon sounded like a sherman tank and could not be used at the same time as we needed sleep. 2nd rate tea and coffee, very spongy bed, blankets had indescribable spots of old marks and dirt on them. All up i hated staying here, we were going to stay the whole night but left at 1am to continue our journey....Not very nice at all. I showed the print out of our room description to a few people including the JP at NRMA and she suggested taking it straight over the road to Fair trading. As far as she was concerned we were definately being led astray by false advertising. There really are cheaper, cleaner much nicer places in Coffs Harbour to stay believe me!

Room Tip: Stay somewhere else.

Good position, close to shops and dinner venues. Booked over the net and price was reasonable. Very clean and well appointed. Friendly and helpful proprietor. Good wifi. Difficult to fault. Would be happy to stay here again.
