“Nice place.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 April 2014

We stayed here for a 6 night break after a busy few months. The resort grounds are beautiful and there is a lot on offer. The bure was nice, the spa was excellent, bigger than I expected. The bathroom has a glass roof, which was extremely dirty and could do with a good clean. The people in the bure across from us were extremely noises and kept us awake two nights in a row, which was annoying as I read there is a fine for excessive noise at night (guess that wasn't true). The buffet breakfast was good and they staff serving breakfast lovely.
I wouldn't suggest the restaurant, we went there for dinner one night, and didn't have a great experience. The menu was limited and after we ordered our mains they took forever to come out (we were one of two tables in there). After we finished and were still hungry we decided to order dessert, no one came to clear our plates for 30 minutes, by this stage there were 5 tables in the restaurant, they were all being well taken care of too!!! Three table arrived after us, had mains and desserts and left long before us. We then waited an hour for dessert and before someone came back to ask us if we wanted anything else, and that's when I complained. We were given an excuse for our dessert not arriving, but after my questioning discovered our order was given to someone else and we were forgotten. The waitress removed our dessert from the bill and did an ok job of rectifying the situation, but lied initially and I can't tolerate liars (she would have got further by admitting the truth to start with). We felt very ignored and were not happy seeing every other table being well looked after.

Room Tip: Nice place, don't bother with the restaurant.

We have stayed here twice in the last month for business / short break. We love the location , and 1 bedroom Bure. Its clean , fresh and totally relaxing. The amenities are great and the staff 1st class.
You can't beat the value and we just want to come back.
Please note we have stayed in the best hotels internationally and we are very fussy but this is the perfect spot. Where else can you get a great room , good food and free breakfast for 170 per night.
Highy recommended.

Room Tip: Get the 1 bedroom Bure if you are a couple

Booked this room for my elderly parents. Beautiful spot and resort is excellent. But some of the Bures are managed privately. This was one of them. I rang to let the manger know we had arrived. Manager Chaz arrived bare foot and looking like he had been out in the garden in yard clothes
He Let us in, quick explanation and left. Room was ok but hadn't been cleaned properly for some time. Mold all over bathroom tiles, dust on bedside tables and skirting boards. Resort itself was excellent. We stayed in a Bure run by the resort and have reviewed separately. When I rang to let Chaz know my parrnts were leaving there was no answer so I sent a text saying we would leave keys in room. He returned call a bit later and when I said about did he want to check room or collect keys he told me he was too busy for any of that just leave the keys in the room. Rude and abrubt and I got the feeling I was inturupting his day. Wouldn't recommend private run Bures. Unvlean and rude manager. Stay through the resort. Also bathroom was unsuitable for elderly or disabled two large tile steps up and into shower spa. So if you have any mobility issues these Bures are not for you.

This place is overpriced and at $240 a night i was ripped off. It needs maintanance and is tired and getting run down. Im glad i only stayed here for one night. On the positive, it is right on the beach and the meal at the restaurant for dinner was very good with the most delicious food and dessert however the hot buffet breakfast the next morning in contrast was quite basic with a bit of fruit and overcooked scrambled eggs and not much more of a selection. The mattresses on the beds were old, firm and hard but the different pillow selection in the room from soft, medium and hard pillows was good, otherwise i would not have been able to sleep. There is much better value elsewhere as paying $240 a night here was overpriced for a basic 2 bedroom unit that was extremely sparse and basic, needed maintanance and not up to standard. Staff at front desk were very friendly however management needs to be better organised and stop over charging for units that need upgrades.

The location is fabulous and makes up for a lot of the faults and maintenance issues. Be aware that you cannot park close to your villa, so it will be a long trip with a luggage trolley to the car parks and it's a huge hassle with kids and luggage or with seniors or when it rains. No help was provided by the staff even when a couple of men saw me struggling with an out of control cart. Reception was curteous but not warm and welcoming. No information was forthcoming on its own (such as this is breakfast time, this is where to pools are etc.). Our 'bure' (we have been to the South Pacific, this is not a bure) had some big maintenance issue and was poorly cleaned and maintained. Mosquito nets had large holes in them, carpets were frayed and stained, the bathroom wasn't cleaned properly (smears on the mirror and on the tiles), the windows were dirty, the curtains were broken off the rail on one side and the bedroom lamp and overhead lights weren't working. Needed some major updating, looked very tired. Fridge had lots of rust on it.
The first bure we were given had not been cleaned by housekeeping at all, so after the trek back to reception to get a 'clean' room and after such a long drive, we complained no more. Very dark inside, not enough lights and light fittings. Very badly insulated against noise, so you hear everything. Breakfast as at best average adn not worth $20 per head, some of the cutlery was dirty and I picked up a plate off the stack that still had honey and grease stuck at the bottom, then I picked up another and it wasn't too clean either. Overall it was a very disappointing experience given the price and the high expectations. I would not want to spend my holiday here. There are much better places. Being from Noosa, this was a total let down in cleanliness, service and standard. Also, the spa would be difficult getting in and out of as a senior and the water temperature was either hot or cold and couldn't be adjusted. The jets were filthy. Really I am usually not picky but that stay was a waste of money. The lagoon pool was also poorly maintained, lots of leaves in it and sand at the bottom. As I say, the location is superb, shame about the (many) faults of the place. Ok for a stop over only, not for a holiday.

Came to Aanuka for a wedding recently for 3 nights, what a fantastic place. Great location, accommodation, food and service. Will definitely be back the Spa bures were excellent. Fantastic views over looking the ocean, amazing lagoon pool for children and adults. An indoor heated pool and spa for those cooler days and a fantastic kid water-slide and separate pool area. Our daughter is allergic to dairy staff couldn't have been more helpful in cooking her a fresh meal.

Worth the travel from Brisbane.

We've just returned from a 3 day break at the Aanuka Beach. The resort is split up of self contained villa/beach hut types of accommodation. The rooms are quite big, but look at little sparse because of this. Was surprised that the self contained kitchen didn't have a hob, just a microwave and an electric fry pan, kettle and toaster. Not bad, but if you were staying with a small family, I think that cooking there would be a nightmare. There is loads of room for them to put in a fitted kitchen along the dining room wall, so the kitchen was there looked incredibly small. Bedroom was good, with large kingsized bed (way too soft for us). Bathroom was ok too with large spa bath, but generally has a feeling that it's seen better days. All in all, the rooms could do with upgrading as they all felt quite basic and rather tired. I thought the top loading washing machine and dryer a nice touch. So all in all, the accommodation isn'd bad, just needs some money spent on it to bring it up to date.

The gardens are really well looked after. It was enjoyable walking around them. The outdoor pool at the front was nice to use and sunbathe. The indoor poor was pretty grim, along with the gym which was closed all of the time we were there... but only had two pieces of equipment in it (don't know what all that was about). Don't do near the aviary... was the most disturbing sight of poor unkempt cages for 2 Cockatoos. If you have ever looked after birds you will find it rather upsetting.

The best thing about this resort has to be it's location. It's a very short stroll to the beach in front, and it is absolutely beautiful. I believe the resort is more suitable for couples, and they should market it so.
