This is a hotel that really lives up to its name. If you are planning a stress-free break, stay at this hotel. Check-in and check-out were hassle-free and speedy, staffs are very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. We (family of 5 adults) stayed at this hotel from the 27th of July till the 2nd of August. Our room on the 7th floor is large and spacious, with one queen, two twin and a sofa bed, two bathrooms, very comfortable, cozy and clean. You can do your own cooking as it has a kitchenette with all the utensils required, and pots and pans which you have to request from the front office. This hotel has a superb location. It is right in the heart of the city with Chinatown, Thai-town and the Marketcity (Paddy's market), within hundred meters from the hotel. Almost all of Sydney's attractions are within walking distance from the hotel and for those who do not like walking, the free bus 555 passes right in front of the hotel on George street. Food courts and other eateries and restaurants are all around the hotel, so you will never have any problem looking for a meal to fill your stomach. The hotel to airport shuttle bus service arranged by the hotel, usually at a fee of $15.00 per person (to be paid to the Shuttle bus provider) is very reasonable and convenient but in my case, since we are a family of 5 adults, we were only charged $50 for the whole bus, thanks to Mr Emre of front office who made the arrangement for us. I have read many hotel guests' reviews complaining of noise from the traffic but my personal opinion is that the noise is still bearable and for all the good points that the hotel possessed, the occasional traffic noise is nothing. Will surely stay at this hotel again on our next visit.

Room Tip: Higher floor rooms facing Chinatown.

An excellent location is definitely the strong point for this hotel - with Chinatown and Paddy Market just around the corner and other main attractions within walking distance. Bus stop is almost at the doorstep. After reading about TA's comments about the street noise, we requested for rooms on higher floors and got one on the 11th floor. The studio room is spacious and comfortable and we found the kitchenette useful (crockery and utensils are provided but you have to request for the pots and pans from the front office). There is no free wi-fi but guests are given half an hour of complimentary computer use (only one computer at the lobby).

The staff are friendly and helpful and try their best to assist wherever they can. The hotel lobby is pretty narrow and can be a tight squeeze when there's a crowd.

But something should be done with the breakfast provided - which was served by the hotel's Chinese restaurant - it was very limited in choice and repeated day in, day out with no change in variety at all ! Even the plates, cups and utensils provided are limited and runs out frequently; and the staff are also slow in refilling the food and drinks - you get the feeling they are trying to control the quantity served ! If breakfast is not included in your package, it is better eat elsewhere. Plenty of eating options nearby. Breakfast starts at 7.00am - if you have an early tour to catch, do inform the front desk and they will provide you with breakfast packs consisting of cereals, packet milk and juice and cake/biscuits.

Checkout is rather early at 10am but you can have your luggage stored until you are ready to leave for the airport.

Overall, we had a comfortable stay at Breakfree on George.

Room Tip: Request for rooms on higher floors, preferably away from George Street.

We arrived early on each of two recent visits and were immediately given access to our room. The friendliness and efficiency of the staff made an immediate impression and we were pleasantly surprised by our studio. We had a small room with lounge, a kitchenette, a full bath and a most comfortable bed. Dixon St and Paddy's market were just outside and Central Station a short walk. Our room was spotlessly clean and although the executive suite we had on our first visit had been more recently renovated, the standard suite was comfortable and very acceptable, looking out onto Sussex St but still very quiet. We look forward to returning for another visit.

Room Tip: Good and cheap meals at the nearby Mountbatten Hotel.( 200 metres south) and Great Southern Hotel Bi...

Well located hotel right on George Street. 15-20 minute walk to the Darling Harbour. A little longer to the Circular Quay. We were a family of 4 and they gave us a nice 2 room suite with 2 bathrooms which was very comfortable. A very limited breakfast menu. And being vegetarian even more limited. Also starts at 7 am which is a bit late given that our pick ups for tours were all about 7.15 am. The guys at the reception can also be more well briefed on eating options in the neighborhood.

This hotel is great if attending the Capital Theatre, Entertainment Centre or Lyric Theatre. It is so easy to get to these venues. The room was a decent size and the hotel provided twin beds as requested which was great. Beds are comfortable and shower had great water pressure although I'm not a fan of showers over the bath or hand held showers, it was ok for a one night stay. The room had a small balcony which I loved as it is very rare to find hotel that has some outdoor space, our room faced George Street but once the door was closed we didn't hear any noise throughout the night, our stay was through the week so I'm not sure how it would have been over the weekend. My only fault is the rooms are a little tired and a bit grubby, needing a bit of a spring clean. overall we had a great night in the city to see The Lion King

This is the second time we have stayed at the breakfree on George, it will be the last. Ok so positives, the staff are lovely, however restaurant staff spoke very poor english and couldn't understand requests for food to be replenished at breakfast. Excellent position for tourists visiting Sydney, close to light rail, free bus, 20min walk downtown, very interesting from a cultural point of view
The negatives (of which there are many) the kitchen cabinets were sticky with a fatty residue I assume from previous cooking, the oven smelt very badly of oven cleaner when heated which put me off using it at all.
The furniture in the main room was shoddy, ready for replacing the decorating is overdue with two walls in each of the bedrooms dirty. The dining and coffee tables have glass rounds on them which has never been removed as there were cigarette!! burns and old food remnants and stains under them both. The grout on the floor in the master bath behind the door was dirty as was the bottom of the shower curtain, the bathroom smells of damp and mildew. The shampoo is of really poor quality, seriously just save the money and don't provide any.
There are no mattress protectors on the bed or pillow protectors on the pillow which I find is gross!!
The lighting in the lounge area is very poor, I.e not adequate to read.
Finally breakfast!! I paid in advance for four breakfasts in the buffet restaurant, I refuse to eat there and got my money refunded. The choice was very poor, there was minimal of everything provided, they were obviously about to finish serving even though it was on 9.10 and they don't finish serving until 10.00am, the cooked choices were poor quality, the bacon was more fat than meat, the coffee was instant, which I find unbelievable in this day and age, the food was cold, there were no croissants or even initially bread available for toast without asking, there was no short order bar for fresh eggs etc the scrambled eggs were cold, they served egg fried rice for breakfast!! I think enough said, we were extremely disappointed I have never seen a poorer buffet breakfast in six yrs of living in Australia!!

Room Tip: Don't stay
